Author Jarrett Krosoczka visited our school on Friday, March 1st.  Students enjoyed an assembly where he talked about his journey as an author and each student received a signed copy of one of his books!  Visit his website at this link to learn more about Jarrett.  Thank you to Title 1 for funding an exciting experience for our students!

Attendance Updates

Currently, we have a chronic absenteeism rate of 20%.  This mean that these students have missed 10% of school so far.  If your child has missed 11 or more days of school so far, they are considered chronically absent, which significantly disrupts their learning.

Did you know that missing just 2 days of school each month causes a student to miss 30 hours of math instruction and 60 hours of reading and writing instruction.  Attendance is critical to student success.  Remember...its' cool to be in school!

If your child is not feeling well, please refer to the When Should I Keep My Child Home? webpage for guidance.

23-24 SIIP (School Improvement & Innovation Plan)

Our SIIP is now posted on our school website at this link. We have 3 goals (1 reading, 1 math, and absenteeism) which are directly aligned to the new FCPS Strategic Plan. Visit this site to learn more about the Strategic Plan.

A team of staff members started to analyze data this past July, and these findings are what helped drive our SIIP plan. Region 2 leaders also provided input and feedback.  The plan will be monitored every quarter.
