Read Across America - Book Character Parade
Our Book Character Parade will take place during our Read-in Day on Friday, March 22nd at 9:30! If your child chooses to participate, please send your child to school wearing a costume of their favorite book/character, with a copy of the book to carry in the parade.
Children should bring a change of clothes in their backpack for after the parade if their costume is uncomfortable.
All costumes must be school appropriate (no scary costumes, masks or weapons are allowed).
Parents are invited to assemble along the track on the upper field to view the parade at 9:30 a.m.
Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) Screening for Subject Specific (Level II) and Part-Time (Level III) Services
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction to meet the needs of advanced learners. Screening for Subject Specific (Level II) and Part-Time (Level III) Services Students can be screened for subject specific and part time AAP services at any time in the school year.
In the spring, schools review data on all students to determine services for the start of the next school year.
- Parents or guardians can initiate the screening process by submitting the AAP School-Based Services (Level II-III) Referral Form to the Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART) or Assistant Principal by April 15, annually.
- The AAP School-Based Services (Level II-III) Referral Form may be found here or by searching “AAP Forms” at https://www.fcps.edu/.
- Parents or guardians who submit a referral will be notified by our elementary school of their student’s eligibility status by early June.

Please provide your 2024-25 input by submitting this form as it will ensure we have your request. Please do not email us additional information. Completion of the form is optional. However, the deadline for any correspondence is March 8 at 4 PM. Thank you for your input.
Family Engagement Survey to Open March 3
FCPS is partnering with independent research firm K12 Insight to administer a Family Engagement Survey, which will be open from Sunday, March 3, to Friday, March 22. Your feedback is critical in helping FCPS to better recognize, understand, respect, and address family strengths and needs throughout the district. Survey topics include:
- Welcoming environment
- Communication
- Student Success
- Advocacy
- Family and school partnerships
- Community partnerships
The survey will be available in English, Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Pashto, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
Parents/caregivers will receive the survey link via email from K12 Insight. A public link will also be posted on FCPS’ website. Paper surveys will be available in our front office. Please stay tuned for more information.

Tutor.com offers more than help with homework! This on-demand tutoring service also provides a comprehensive range of resources. Students can take practice quizzes at any time. If you have any neighbors with little ones, please send this information to them as well. This form simply collects initial information to help us plan for staffing for the next school year.
