Greetings, Glen Forest Families!

Multicultural Night ~ "This is Us!"

As we bask in the glow of a truly magnificent Multicultural Night event ~ This is Us!, we should be filled with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude for our incredible school community! The energy and enthusiasm that permeated every corner of our school during this special evening were nothing short of inspiring. From the colorful posters adorning our hallways to the heart-warming performances that graced our stage, Multicultural Night was a celebration of diversity, unity, and cultural pride. It was heartwarming to witness our students, families, and staff come together to honor and embrace the rich tapestry of cultures that make up the Glen Forest school community. As we reflect on the memories created during Multicultural Night, let us carry forward the spirit of unity and appreciation for diversity in everything we do. Let us continue to cultivate an environment where every student feels valued, respected, and empowered to embrace their unique cultural identity. As we say..."From Many, We are ONE!"

Attendance Updates

Currently, we have a chronic absenteeism rate of 17%.  This mean that these students have missed 10% of school so far.  If your child has missed 11 or more days of school so far, they are considered chronically absent, which significantly disrupts their learning.

Did you know that missing just 2 days of school each month causes a student to miss 30 hours of math instruction and 60 hours of reading and writing instruction.  Attendance is critical to student success.  Remember...its' cool to be in school!

If your child is not feeling well, please refer to the When Should I Keep My Child Home? webpage for guidance.

bus

Here Comes the Bus!!Want to know if your child's bus is on schedule or where the bus is? Here Comes the Bus® is an easy-to-use website and app that enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus — almost in real time — on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer.

Parents can track multiple buses if their children don’t all ride the same bus; know exactly when children arrive at school or the bus stop; and receive customized text and/or email notifications about bus locations, schedule changes, or delays.

To get started, download the app from the Apple iOS or Android app store. Check out the Here Comes the Bus and Frequently Asked Questions webpages for more information.

23-24 SIIP (School Improvement & Innovation Plan)

Our SIIP is now posted on our school website at this link. We have 3 goals (1 reading, 1 math, and absenteeism) which are directly aligned to the new FCPS Strategic Plan. Visit this site to learn more about the Strategic Plan.

A team of staff members started to analyze data this past July, and these findings are what helped drive our SIIP plan. Region 2 leaders also provided input and feedback.  The plan will be monitored every quarter.
