URGENT PTA Volunteer Need!!!

The GBE PTA has reached a critical threshold.  In this case, it is a tipping point where the GBE PTA has experienced a notable impact after losing several board members.  Its future now depends on the immediate actions of the larger GBE community.  The PTA board needs parent volunteers to help fill board positions until the May elections.  Please attend the meeting this Thursday, Feb 8th, or reach out to president @gbepta.org and communications@gbepta.org if you are interested in helping.

Unfortunately, I am one of these “lost” PTA board members.  I had expected to complete my second term, but due to urgent family health circumstances, I can no longer fulfill my board responsibilities as PTA Secretary.  I feel terrible for needing to step down when the PTA is in such a precarious situation.  We have all worked so hard for the PTA, and I was proud to be handing it off to the next board in May.  The PTA is ready to grow and thrive in the next school year, but we need your help to ensure this happens.  I will still support GBE, as a parent volunteer and school advocate, as often as I am able.  I am still around and I am more than happy to assist my replacement on the board, should anyone be willing to take over as Secretary until elections.  Thinking about a board position for next year?  This is a great opportunity to get involved and see if a board position would be a good fit!

2023-2024 PTA Board Members Needed!

·  The GBE PTA is required to have a President, Treasurer, and Secretary.

·  The Vice President position is not required but highly recommended.

·  Elections will take place on May 9, 2024

Please reach out to president@gbepta.org and communications@gbepta.org for more information.

A Final Message from the 2023-2024 GBE PTA Secretary

Dear GBE Community,

It is with regret that I must inform you of my resignation as GBE PTA Secretary.

It was my pleasure and honor to serve on behalf of the GBE PTA as secretary for the past two years.  I am deeply saddened by this resignation.  Regretfully, due to personal and family health reasons, I am no longer able to take an active part in the board.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank both the current and former PTA board members.  The PTA board works so hard, most often behind the scenes, to support the school and the community.  I feel inspired as I sit here and reflect upon what is in store for the PTA next school year, and recall there is no future without the work of the past and present.  Thank you.

Thank you to the future PTA Board Members!  Whoever you are, you will no doubt step up, carrying forward your visions and inspirations into the school year.  I am excited for you and I look forward to volunteering with you.  As a former PTA board member, I would like to offer you a few important pieces of advice.  Remember to take care of yourselves and of your fellow board members.  Embrace your fellow board members, volunteers, school staff, and PTA members (and non-PTA members, they deserve love too!).  The PTA board will expose you to many opportunities.  Step boldly and proudly into the diversity and varied life experiences of our school and community.

I would like to thank all the parent and staff volunteers who generously give their time to help the PTA.  Time is the most precious thing anyone can ask of you, so it is with my utmost sincerity that I thank you for giving us your time and making it possible for the PTA to support the school and community.  Your beautiful silent auction baskets raised funds for the PTA.  Your errand to pick up food and drink donations and bring them to the school made staff appreciation possible.  You gave your time designing themed decorations for staff appreciation week.  You helped decorate the school.  You helped before, during, and after school events.  You donated.  You joined the PTA.  You participate in fundraisers.  Thank you.

To those who have yet to have the opportunity, please support your PTA Board and all GBE volunteers.  Attend a restaurant night, or a PTA event.  Volunteer (volunteering once will not get you pestered for the rest of your time at GBE to volunteer again).  Donate to a fundraiser, or just smile and say hello in the hallways; kindness really is such a powerful action.  Attend a PTA meeting.  Volunteer.  Yes, volunteer.  I reiterate this, because volunteers are so crucial to what the PTA can do.  Even just a little bit of time can go a very long way.  So please consider volunteering.  Thank you to everyone for your kind words and support, both now and in the past.  I’ll see you around the school!

Sincerely,

Lori Campanola
