February 2, 2024
Our new semester kicked off this week with a spirited pep rally. We recognized our Winter Sports Teams, and our staff and students took to the court to play some ball. The students secured the "W" and took the title this year! We also spent time discussing goal setting. We asked each student in the new semester to begin planning a SMARTer goal in Lion Time. We look forward to strengthening supports for all students in Semester 2 and recognizing growth, gains, and mastery.
This week I sat down with students to hear more about class projects, clubs, and community impact. Our ROARbotics team is headed to state competition, and we are proud of all the work they have done to build their program and to create a program feeder plan for the future. You will find our students working in our feeder schools, alongside elementary school students to help build excitement and interest in STEM fields. Our Entrepreneurship students presented creative projects for the innovation challenge this week. This detailed process required a market study, detailed analysis, and evolution of a missing idea. Can you SHOUT meta-POG-nition?!?! Our Teachers for Tomorrow have spent the first semester in training and preparation for this week. Our future teachers will be in the elementary classrooms delivering high quality lessons to students in K-6. We are so excited to build the next generation of educators.
Wednesday night we took it to the mats! We welcomed our friends from the Occoquan district to compete in the district wrestling tournament. We are proud of our FHS wrestlers who had a tremendous showing and are gearing up for the next round of regionals.
If winter weather has you feeling blue, no need to CRY this weekend, just check out Fairfax Academy's production of Cry-Baby The Musical. This show is a guaranteed SHOWSTOPPER!
This Saturday, our Science Olympiad Superstars will be welcoming friends from all over the DMV for spirited competition. From egg scramblers to aerodynamics, I am always amazed at the collaboration of teams and the depth of knowledge and application these scholars demonstrate.
In partnership always,

🚍 Here Comes the Bus
Want to know if your child's bus is on schedule or where the bus is? Here Comes the Bus® is an easy-to-use website and app that enables parents to see the location of their child’s school bus — almost in real time — on a smartphone, tablet, or personal computer.
Parents can track multiple buses if their children don’t all ride the same bus; know exactly when children arrive at school or the bus stop; and receive customized text and/or email notifications about bus locations, schedule changes, or delays.
To get started, download the app from the Apple iOS or Android app store. Check out the Here Comes the Bus and Frequently Asked Questions webpages for more information.
Already using the Here Comes the Bus app? Send your feedback to HCTB@fcps.edu.
Note: eNotify text messaging will continue to be used for reporting bus delays and bus incidents.
