Dear Fairview Families,
We're excited to announce the launch of a new initiative in our classrooms that will take place during our morning meetings. On Mondays and Fridays of each week all classes at Fairview will participate in Falcon Focus lessons. These engaging and interactive lessons will be held at the beginning of each school day and will support the development of essential social and life skills in our students.
The topic for this week is learning about self awareness:
What helps you, when you feel big, overwhelming emotions?
- Talking it out with someone you trust?
- Drawing, reading, doodling, journaling?
- Taking a break in the Calm Corner?
We encourage you to talk to your child about what they are learning in Morning Meetings and continue to practice these skills at home.
We are confident that the Falcon Focus lessons will be a valuable addition to our classroom instruction and a positive step forward in supporting the whole child. We look forward to sharing this journey with you!
Sincerely,
Samantha Goldstein
Principal
Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the colder temperatures. Classes will continue to go outside for recess and other activities during the winter months
This event will be rescheduled for February 7th at 9:15 in the POD. We will be inviting Angela Stotka, Reading Specialist to share about literacy. |

Please let us know if you have a rising Kindergarten student – a child who will be 5 years old on or before September 30, 2024. An ivory form - Survey of Preschool Children - was sent home in Wednesday Folders on 1/18 to collect this information. Please complete it if it applies to you and return it to the office or your child’s teacher. If you have a neighbor or friend for whom this applies within our Fairview boundaries, please share this information with them or ask them to call Fairview at 703-503-3700.
Registration forms and information about Kindergarten Orientation will be provided to those who complete the survey or contact the school.
Your assistance with identifying our incoming Kindergarten class is greatly appreciated.

Call for Volunteers to Support ZEN Lunch
Beginning last year, Fairview has been able to offer ZEN Lunch to students in grades 4-6 on at least 3 days weekly. ZEN Lunch is an opportunity for students to eat in a calm quiet separate space away from the cafeteria. Students enjoy low lighting and calming music or videos (like the panda cam when that was a thing!). We will be able to continue offering this as an option as possible based on our staffing. We are asking for some support in helping us keep this going and consistently available for students. We are looking for parents that are willing to come to help us host Zen lunch on a consistent schedule, whether it be weekly on certain days, biweekly on a specific day or otherwise. This would require a volunteer to be badged through FCPS. If you are interested, please reach out to Lindsey Wilcox (lrwilcox@fcps.edu) in the main office for more information regarding badging and to discuss scheduling. Thank you for your consideration!

A BIG thank you to our Fairview community for collecting and sending in recycled materials for our Technology class. We are off to a great start! We will be starting these class group projects using the recycled materials very soon. We still need some items for these projects. If you would please collect and save some of these items and bring them to school, we would greatly appreciate your help. We will have collection bins placed in classrooms for these materials and at the entrance of the school by the office. Thank you for all your help. These are the only items we still need help gathering:
Bottle Caps
Paper Towel Holders
Toilet Paper Holders
THANK YOU!!!
Our lost and found is very full! Do you recognize any of these items? We have wonderful PTA volunteers who tag and hang these items up. Please remind your child to stop by the lost and found on their way to lunch! After a period of time, these items are donated.
