Glen Forest Families:
As we head into the last week of the 2nd quarter, we want to sincerely thank you for your continued support in your children's education. Student success is at its best when we all work together. Please know that our staff will be analyzing student progress data to inform our instructional practices moving forward. We pride ourselves on providing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of our students.

Important Dates This Week
Thursday, January 25th, marks the end of the second quarter and will be a 2-hour early release day for students. Friday, Thursday 26th is Teacher Workday, therefore students do not attend school.

Multicultural Night ~ "This is Us!"
The highly anticipated Multicultural Night, themed "This is Us!" will be Tuesday, February 6th from 6:00pm-8:00pm. This evening promises to be a vibrant showcase of cultures from around the world, featuring exciting performances, delicious food, and engaging activities. We hope you can join us to celebrate our beautifully diverse school community! All are welcome to attend. A flier has been sent home to sign up if your family would like to contribute food, a performance, or a display table.

Yearbook Orders Extended ~ Jan. 26th
A green flier has been sent home about yearbook sales. The cost of the yearbook is $13.00. Payments can be made in cash, check payable to Glen Forest Elementary or online at this link. Yearbooks will be distributed in June 2024. The final deadline is Friday, Jan. 26th, which is a Teacher Workday, so if you will be sending in cash or check, please do so by Thursday, January 25th!

Free Online Tutoring
FCPS students have unlimited access to 24/7, on-demand, online tutoring support services through Tutor.com at no cost to families. Students can connect online any time, any place, and in most K-12 subjects for however long they need. Tutoring may be on-demand and/or scheduled at a time convenient for the student and/or family. Attendance Competition is Back!
Congratulations! We beat Beech Tree during the first week of competition (Jan. 8th-12th). Glen Forest had a 95.24% attendance rate, while Beech Tree had 94.76%. We will combine last week's day and half with this upcoming week. If we win, we will have a PJ Day on Monday, January 29th. Gooo Eagles!

23-24 SIIP (School Improvement & Innovation Plan)
Our SIIP is now posted on our school website at this link. We have 3 goals (1 reading, 1 math, and absenteeism) which are directly aligned to the new FCPS Strategic Plan. Visit this site to learn more about the Strategic Plan.
A team of staff members started to analyze data this past July, and these findings are what helped drive our SIIP plan. Region 2 leaders also provided input and feedback. The plan will be monitored every quarter.
