Principal's Message

Good afternoon Roadrunner Families,

This has been a phenomenal week of school, and I am excited to report that our students have made tremendous strides academically. The month of January brought a series of exams from Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) tests to the iReady county exams, which can be taxing and overwhelming. As scores begin to come home, please do not hesitate to reach out to staff to understand your child's progress this year better. Additionally, attendance matters in your child's academic progress; studies show that missing 10 or more days in a school year dramatically impacts a child's ability to learn. Daily attendance is critical to strong academic performance.

As we embark on the second half of the school year, we want to emphasize the significance of student attendance. Every hour of every school day is a unique opportunity for our students to learn, connect, and grow. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in ensuring our students attend school daily and contribute to their educational journey.

Warmest Regard,

Your Principals

Dr. Legagneur, Ms. Champion, Ms. Kayes, Mr. Barton

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is a holy day of prayer and fasting in many Western Christian denominations. It marks the beginning of Lent, a time of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving leading up to Easter. Many Christians attend special Ash Wednesday church services, at which churchgoers receive ash on their foreheads. Ash Wednesday derives its name from this practice.
