RVES Family Newsletter Jan. 19

    January 19 - Family Newsletter

    Rolling Valley Families,

And with that, the school week has come to a close! With the snow day happening, we had a very short school week! I hope you can get out and enjoy the snow day while staying warm and safe. Our January Principal Chat was cancled because of today's schedule. We will not reschedule, and instead loop this month's topic into the February 16th Principal Chat!

6th Grade Parents, please note that the Irving Middle School field trip has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 24.

Even though this was a short week, next week is also a planned shorter week. There is an early release on January 25, no school on January 26th, and our Chorus concert January 31 from 7-8pm.

Check out the PTA section to order Spiritwear, it’s back by popular demand for a limited time!

Again, we all know it’s cold out there and students come in with jackets and gloves but leave without them. Please check out the picture below for our most recent items in lost and found! I know all of these items belong to current Rockin’ Robins!

Wishing everyone a safe weekend. Enjoy the snow!

    Veronica Del Bagno

    Rolling Valley Elementary Principal

    Thank You, Custodians!

A major thank you to our custodial team for braving the roads and elements on Tuesday and clearing our parking lots and sidewalks to ensure a safe arrival and dismissal for our students and staff.

    Barnack Road - Parking Issues:

We are having safety concerns with parked cars on Barnack Road. Parked cars require drivers in the Kiss & Ride loan to go around, and with students crossing the road it leaves many blind spots and is an increased safety concern. I am asking that cars not park on Barnack Road at afternoon dismissal. Parents, if you are picking up your walker, please park on the far side of Baranck Road (opposite the school) and pass the bus loop entrance. Thank you in advance for your support in ensuring our Rockin’ Robins stay safe.

    FCPS Cares!

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Rolling Valley ES. We love our RVES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!

Calendar Update for March 5 Presidential Primary

The Fairfax Board of Elections has requested schools to close on Tuesday, March 5, to accommodate the administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.

As a result, March 5 will be a school holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day. As outlined in Regulation 4421, School Planning Days are directed by school-based administrators in order to devote time to school improvement efforts, including collaboration around data, common assessments, and responsive instruction. Central offices and school offices will remain open.
