RVES Family Newsletter Jan. 12

January 12 - Family Newsletter

Rolling Valley Families,

RV is back into the swing of school and routines. This week our 6th-grade students had a field trip to the American Art Museum, we held our first PTA meeting of the 2024 year, and 20 RV students participated in the West Springfield Pyramid Band Concert. We like the busy weeks and our students have been hard at work as we near the end of the 2nd quarter!

A couple of reminders of upcoming events, we have no school on January 25 or 26th, and there is an early release on January 25. Check out the PTA section to order Spiritwear, it’s back by popular demand for a limited time! We have our next principal chat scheduled for Friday, January 19.

Lastly, we all know it’s cold out there and students come in with jackets and gloves but leave without them. Please check out the picture below for our most recent items in lost and found! I know all of these items belong to current Rockin’ Robins!

We are wishing everyone a safe and warm long weekend.

Barnack Road - Parking Issues:

We are having safety concerns with parked cars on Barnack Road. Parked cars require drivers in the Kiss & Ride loan to go around, and with students crossing the road it leaves many blind spots and is an increased safety concern. I am asking that cars not park on Barnack Road at afternoon dismissal. Parents, if you are picking up your walker, please park on the far side of Baranck Road (opposite the school) and pass the bus loop entrance. Thank you in advance for your support in ensuring our Rockin’ Robins stay safe.

FCPS Cares!

The FCPS CARES Program is an opportunity for parents, staff, and community members to recognize FCPS employees for going above and beyond to help others and show they care. We invite you to submit your story, so we can all acknowledge the good work of FCPS employees at Rolling Valley ES. We love our RVES staff members, let's tell them how we feel!

Calendar Update for March 5 Presidential Primary

The Fairfax Board of Elections has requested schools to close on Tuesday, March 5, to accommodate the administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.

As a result, March 5 will be a school holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day. As outlined in Regulation 4421, School Planning Days are directed by school-based administrators in order to devote time to school improvement efforts, including collaboration around data, common assessments, and responsive instruction. Central offices and school offices will remain open.
