RVES Family Newsletter Dec. 8

December 8 - Family Newsletter

Rolling Valley Families,

I just learned that I did not click send on my newsletter Friday. I'm so sorry! Please find what I planned to send out on Friday.

It’s been an exciting week at RVES with the SCA holding a spirit week and many of our upper-grade students getting ready for the winter band concert next week! While the weather has certainly dipped in temperature our students are enjoying bundling up and getting outdoors! Please make sure you look at the lost and found pictures because we are seeing so many coats and sweaters in our lost and found. Make sure to read about our upcoming events happening next week.

Have a great weekend!

Trees out Front

While we love seeing students outside playing around the school after dismissal, recently we’ve noticed that many students are climbing the trees out in front of the school. We are asking that you please monitor children after dismissal for their safety and to ensure our trees have the opportunity to grow new branches.

Children's Books

Our school lending library needs children's books. If you have any children's books that are in good condition that you would like to donate, please drop them off in the front office.

A note from the library:

We have hundreds of library books that are overdue and we need your help! Let’s try to return all of them before winter break so we can start fresh in the new year! Overdue notices will be going home again in this week’s Friday folder. If your child receives one, please look around your home and help them locate the books and return them to school next week. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Reynolds at slreynolds2@fcps.edu. Thank you for your help in ensuring our books get returned for other students to enjoy!

Calendar Update for March 5 Presidential Primary

The Fairfax Board of Elections has requested schools to close on Tuesday, March 5, to accommodate the administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.

As a result, March 5 will be a school holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day. As outlined in Regulation 4421, School Planning Days are directed by school-based administrators in order to devote time to school improvement efforts, including collaboration around data, common assessments, and responsive instruction. Central offices and school offices will remain open.
