A note from Dr. Goodloe
Dear Charger Families,
We hope you enjoyed the extra time provided by Daylight Savings Time and the student holidays. Our staff was hard at work preparing to welcome students into their classrooms to begin the second grading quarter. We are off to a great start with our Chargers Leading the Charge inside and outside of the classroom. It has been a wonderful (short) week of connections with staff and students including:
-
Lunch and Learn session led by Karen Malloy engaged a large group of students on strategies to process, synthesize, and then apply content knowledge and learning. Our students were energized by the session and are ready to apply their learning in their classes.
- Concert, Symphonic and Symphonic Winds bands delivered an outstanding fall concert under the direction of Doug Maloney and Chris Riechers. I look forward to attending the VMEA conference in Richmond on November 16, where Chantilly Band will be featured.
- Wishing the best of luck to our Boys Cross Country team who will compete at the VA State meet Saturday at the Oatlands in Leesburg. Go Chargers.
- Congratulations to all of our winter athletes who began their seasons this week. We look forward to following your successes throughout the season.
Veteran's Day
We are grateful for the service of the veterans and active duty military in our Chantilly community. Today our students led a celebratory parade and program to thank staff, community members, and their families for their service and sacrifices. Special thanks to our JROTC students, Chamber Choir, Music Honor Society ensembles, and Showstoppers for outstanding performances to honor our veterans, as well as our keynote speaker Col. David Clonts (Ret) and student speaker Tyler Zarybnisky. Special thanks to our student leaders, Eva Jabar and Aly Zrenda, for initiating and coordinating this special event.
Safety and Parking Reminders
Please remember to follow all safety directions of our security personnel and crossing guard to ensure the safety of all of our students and drivers in our community:
- Use designated areas for student drop off and pick up. Do not drop off in the West Lot (Chantilly Baseball Park) or on Stringfellow Road
- Remind students to cross only at the designated cross walks
- All parking spots are numbered and assigned. Please only park in your assigned space or a labeled Visitor spot.
- Arrive early to avoid traffic delays - before 7:50 is ideal! Students will be marked unexcused tardy if they are late to school due to traffic or parking issues.
Please be sure to take a look at the Charger Headlines below for additional information, updates, and resources. I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon.

Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you have not already filled out the form online, we will provide paper forms Wednesday, November 8. Please be sure to return paper forms by Friday, November 17. The electronic form will continue to be available in SIS ParentVUE until January 2024.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Please watch this video and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page for more information.

Students can be referred by a guardian or designated staff member and participate in weekly video therapy sessions. The therapists will work with students until they achieve their therapy goals, or they can help connect the family with long-term mental health services in the community if needed.
