A note from Dr. Goodloe
Dear Charger Families,
It has been a great week at Chantilly High school as we have wrapped up the first grading quarter of the year. I continue to be so proud of the ways our students connect with one another and with our staff and they grow and learn together both inside and outside of the classroom. I am hopeful I will see many of you this evening at Senior Night for athletic training, band, cheer, dance and football at our last home game. We are looking forward to honoring the class of 2024.
This coming weekend is a great time for families to catch up and for students to get some extra rest thanks to Daylight Savings Time on November 5 and FCPS student holidays on November 6-7. Our dedicated Chantilly Faculty and staff will be working hard on Monday and Tuesday learning together, posting grades for Q1, and collaboratively planning for the coming months. On behalf of the entire faculty, I wish all of our students and families a wonderful weekend.

Return Your Federal Impact Aid Survey
FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Federal Impact Aid Survey. The form is available online in SIS ParentVUE. If you have not already filled out the form online, we will provide paper forms Wednesday, November 8. Please be sure to return paper forms by Friday, November 17. The electronic form will continue to be available in SIS ParentVUE until January 2024.
Completing this form for each school-aged child in every household is important, because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Please watch this video and visit the Federal Impact Aid Survey page for more information.
Need to Register for ParentVUE?
Learn how to activate your SISParentVUE account, so you can easily submit your survey.
Technical support for using ParentVUE or completing the survey online is available by submitting a Parent Support Request ticket. Supporting Your Child’s Mental Health
Children go through a lot of changes, and it can be hard to tell if their behavior is developmentally appropriate or if they could benefit from mental health support. It’s important to talk to your child and pay attention to their actions, especially these warning signs:
- Increased irritability, hyperactivity, energy, and/or aggressive behavior.
- Excessive sadness, hopelessness, or worries.
- Loss of appetite, or significant weight gain or loss.
- Lack of sleep or too much sleep.
- A decline in grades, school avoidance, or attendance concerns.
- Alcohol or drug use.
- Withdrawal from activities and/or friends and family.
- Thoughts of harming themselves or others.
If you notice any of these warning signs or feel your child may be experiencing a mental health challenge, help is available. All Fairfax County public schools have at least one school counselor, school psychologist, and school social worker.
Please reach out to one of these staff members to discuss your concerns and identify resources. Call your school or visit their website for staff members’ contact information. Find additional information to support your child’s wellness.
If you or someone you care about is experiencing a mental health crisis such as thoughts of harming themselves or others, please take action right away. Call 988, go to the nearest emergency room, or contact the Sharon Bulova Center for Community Health Emergency Services at 703-573-5679.
No Cost Therapy for High Schoolers
High school students can access virtual mental health services at no cost through an FCPS program with Hazel Health. Hazel Health therapists are licensed and also trained in teen-specific challenges.
Students can be referred by a guardian or designated staff member and participate in weekly video therapy sessions. The therapists will work with students until they achieve their therapy goals, or they can help connect the family with long-term mental health services in the community if needed.
Learn how to opt your students into this service.
⏰ Daylight Saving Time Ends

Congratulations to our Varsity Cheerleading Team on winning the REGION CHAMPIONSHIP last Saturday at Centreville. They finished 6 points ahead of 2nd place Centreville. The team will travel to Richmond on Saturday to compete in the STATE Meet. This is the 4th year in a row that the Cheerleading team has won the Region competition.
Last Saturday, your Mighty Marching Chargers completed their final competition of the season, participating in the Virginia Marching Band Cooperative Commonwealth Cup at Liberty University. They capped off their season with their strongest performances yet, earning 5th place in class with a score of 90.988. We hope that the ROAR of the packed stadium at the end of our show, as our MMCs disappeared under the parachute, is an experience our students will remember and cherish well beyond this season.
Our MMCs were announced as one of top 12 scoring bands from the 34 bands who performed across the day, which earned them a spot in finals and a BONUS performance of our show, Child-ish! In finals, our MMCs shared a TREMENDOUS performance with the audience. Our students earned strong scores across the board, placing 9th overall in finals. Congratulations to our MMCs on an incredible competitive season! Please join us at halftime of Friday’s home football game for our FINAL performance of “Child-ish!”
Congratulations to Elaine Gonzalez, who has been recognized as an employee who shows that FCPS Cares.
Mrs. Elaine Gonzalez and Mrs. Jocelyn Smith made efforts to make Chantilly/Westfield-Strasbourg, France exchange program happen. Mrs. Gonzalez took the ten students including my daughter to Strasbourg for home stay and Paris in June-July for 10 days. Also, she arranged to have the twenty French students home stay in the Chantilly High School community. This exchange program made my daughter's life change in positive way. And we hope this program keeps going and impacts some student’s life with wonderful experiences like it did with our daughter. Thank you so much to Mrs. Gonzalez!
Congratulations to the Chantilly Boys Cross Country team who are the Northern Region Champions. Click here for results. Good luck at States.
