Fall Festival Photos!

Fall festival

Dear Fairhill Families:

Thank you so much for coming to the Fall Festival last Friday! It was a wonderful turn out and we had the opportunity to witness many families and students making new connections and deepening already formed friendships.  Huge kudos to our PTA for putting on such a spooktacular event.

Looking for another smashing good time this Saturday?  No need to look any further than our Fairhill Pumpkin Pie Run & Tree Planting Event at 9:00 am on Saturday!   After that you can enjoy an extra long weekend with your family.  Remember that next Monday and Tuesday, November 6th and 7th, are student holidays. If you haven’t had or scheduled a parent teacher conference yet this year, please reach out to your child's teacher.  Monday or Tuesday would be a perfect time to drop by for a conference.

Take good care,

Ted & Courtney

Impact Aid

Federal Impact Aid Survey

Impact Aid grants are critical to ensuring that all children in FCPS receive an excellent education. FCPS anticipates receiving approximately $3,000,000 in Impact Aid funds.

Printed copies of the Impact Aid Forms will be sent home today to all parents that did not complete the survey online through Parent Vue.  Please fill out the printed survey for each student in your household and return to your teacher tomorrow.

Thank you for participating in this crucial survey to receive grants that benefit the learning of your student/s in FCPS.

Feel free to contact Anne Kane, our Office Assistant at (703) 208-8100 with any questions.

FCPS staff will process the information with the utmost confidentiality.

candy

Too much candy in your house?

Every October, our oldest Tigers promote on the school news the idea of philanthropy – sharing your time, talent, or treasure with others.  Students are invited to share some of their treasure (leftover or extra Halloween candy) with Second Story (a refuge for homeless teens), the Children’s Hospital and military troops overseas (Operation Gratitude).  Last year, Fairhill students collected 316 pounds of candy to share!  We hope to do the same this year, so please encourage your Tigers to send in any candy they would like to share November 1st 3rd. Thank you for helping us show that #OtherPeopleMatter!

If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Swanson.

News from FCPS

cell phone

FCPS Guidelines for Cell Phone Usage at School

Per Student Rights and Responsibilties for 2023-2024, on page 15 it says:

Elementary school Kindergarten-sixth grade (including sixth grade at middle schools)

Phones must be silenced and in backpacks for the duration of the school day. Watches that serve a dual purpose (e.g., smart watch) may be worn; however, phone features (e.g., texting, Internet, calls, etc.) are to be off when phone use is prohibited. Students are prohibited from using phones, tablets, and other mobile devices in restrooms and locker rooms, unless there is a medical necessity or emergency. Teachers may allow usage of cell phones for instructional activities where they are the most appropriate tool, however one-to-one FCPS devices should meet most needs. Cell phones maybe used on campus only before and after school.
