Major Pride!
Congratulations to Godwin Mensa who was selected as a Tenor 1 for the VMEA Senior Honors Choir, which is an auditioned ensemble that selects the top senior vocalists from around Virginia. The honors choir program will be held at the VMEA (Virginia Music Educators Association) conference in Richmond November 16-18, and the concert will be at 1:00pm on November 18. Way to show your Major PRIDE!

Food for Neighbors
This holiday season, let's come together to make a difference in the lives of food-insecure students in our community. Food For Neighbors plans to provide local families with Holiday Meals at Thanksgiving. Visit the FFN website today and learn how you can help students and their families experience the joy of gathering for a holiday meal. Every $50 donation provides a meal for a family. Your generosity can make a world of difference for local students!

November 6 is the first day of winter tryouts. In order to tryouts, students must have completed a physical and done online registration. Here are the links for each of those:

We have had some fun events this week:
Cheer had their National District Finals and the Varsity Football was there to cheer them on.
Field Hockey played in the National District tournament this week and will open the Region Tournament on Tuesday 10/24 at Alexandria City at 6:30pm.
Volleyball will start their playoff season with a National District Quarterfinal matchup on Monday at Falls Church at 7:00pm.
Cross Country ran last week in the JV Championships at Burke Lake and the Varsity team will compete in The National District Finals on Wednesday Boys go at 2:30 and Girls will go at 3:30.

Virginia College Application Week is Here!
Next week is one of our favorite week for MVHS students. It is VIRGINIA COLLEGE APPLICATION WEEK! We are fortunate to have the opportunity to provide ALL seniors with fee waiver codes to over 30 colleges and universities, including all of the Virginia Publics! With that being said, we are going to be celebrating all next week. See the filer below for activities that are happening throughout the week, exclusively at Mount Vernon.

We are holding a Donation Drive to support the celebration for our seniors. Clean out your closets for the Class of 2024 and their senior celebration! Wreaths Across America
The PTSA senior celebration committee is working with Wreaths Across America this holiday season. Please help us decorate our nation’s military cemeteries. Use the link below to order. You also have options for where your sponsored wreath will be placed. Help us meet our goal of getting 50 wreaths ordered! All proceeds will go toward the Class of 2024 senior class celebration. November Meeting
Please join us for an exciting meeting next month on Wednesday, November 8th at 6:30PM, G100, Door 1. We will immediately follow Principal Roger's Principal Chat. We have an exciting discussion planned led by Dr. Amel Logan, PsyD, LPC. He runs a private practice and works or Kaiser Permanente doing individual and group therapy. He's also an MVHS parent! The discussion will consist of an open dialogue parent group conversion to help parents navigate through high school with their children. It should be a lively conversation. Join Us!
