Dr. Aye "Digs Pink" in her winter gear, and celebrates our Volleyball Seniors!
October 20, 2023
Greetings Fairfax Family,
It is a Fabulous Fairfax Day and a FOOTBALL FRIDAY, A TAILGATE FRIDAY, and a HOCO WEEKEND!
This week was all things Fairfax High School Homecoming and celebrating the PAWSomeness of being a student, a staff member or a community member at FHS. Students were celebrating their FHS Pride every day this week with spirit days, float building, and special events. On Tuesday, we assembled and celebrated our Senior Court who took time to thank their families, our staff and also share fun facts about themselves with our student body.
Wednesday was WONDERFUL. At every turn and twist in the school there was something for everyone. We hosted our yearly HOCO tradition of the chowdown. Our Volleyball Team hosted "Dig Pink" in honor of breast cancer awareness and secured a ROARing victory of Lake Braddock. Our Musical Theater Actors Studio students took to the stage for their "Ready Set Glow" showcase of talent-- APPLAUSE!
Thursday, we stepped up our enthusiasm and enjoyed our student run pep rally. We gathered in the gym and the energy became contagious as we watched student performances, played games, celebrated our teams, and enjoyed a staff and student volleyball game (THE STAFF WON). The celebrating ended with our very own LEO defeating the Ram.
Friday morning kicked off with an electrifying walk around with our band. Students also enjoyed cafe karaoke and our dj at lunch. Tonight, we prepare for our student tailgate and our game.
Finally, tomorrow night --WE SHALL DANCE!
Please have an amazing weekend filled with pumpkin spice and all things nice.
In partnership always,
Fairfax Academy's Musical Theatre & Actor's Studio class recently held their showcase, Ready, Set, GLOW!

🗳️ Calendar Update: March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary

The Fairfax Board of Elections has requested that schools be closed on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, to accommodate the administration of the 2024 presidential primary election.
March 5, 2024 will be a school holiday for students and a virtual School Planning Day. Central offices and school offices will remain open. SACC will remain open, as it does on other professional work days.
Homecoming Schedule
Dear Fairfax Community,
Due to rain and the potential for lightning, we have cancelled the parade. Thanks to all students, coaches, club sponsors, and staff who worked to organize and execute the event.
· The Pre-game tailgate in the field house parking lot is postponed to 5:00 pm.
· Rain or shine, the homecoming football game will be played at 7:00 pm, as scheduled.
What is Homecoming? Homecoming, or HOCO for short, is a spirit week which concludes with a parade and a home football game on Friday and a school dance on Saturday night. Traditionally, alumni have a “Homecoming” to watch the football game and see old friends.
What happens on Friday?
- Friday, 5:00: The Tailgate is a Homecoming pre-game festival in the FHS fieldhouse parking lot. This event will include amusements, games, food trucks, and music. It is open to the community.
- Friday, 7:00 pm: Homecoming football game versus Robinson High School. FHS Homecoming Court will be announced at half-time of the game.
- Gates to the stadium open at 6pm. Many students stay after school through the end of the football game to enjoy all the festivities!
What happens on Saturday?
- Saturday, 8:00 – 11:00 pm: Homecoming dance in the Fieldhouse (school gym). This is a ticketed event. Students must have a valid ticket and student ID (or show SIS account) to enter the dance. Event entrance is at door 21. Tickets are still available using the following link: https://www.etix.com/ticket/p/92917516/homecoming-dance-fairfax-fairfax-high-school-athletics.
- There will be concessions and a coat check, so make sure to bring cash!
- Saturday, 8:00 – 10:00 pm: Homecoming movie screening – We will be showing Disney’s “Hercules” as an alternative Homecoming event. There is no fee for this event, but students will be required to show their student ID or SIS profile to participate. Students should enter through Door 22.
Thank you for your support! We are looking forward to a great event!!

Support FHS Students and Teachers!
Donate today! We have a $2,000 fundraising goal to fund the PTSA budget fully. The Parent Teacher Student Association supports FHS through financing functions (e.g., college admission officer speakers) and supporting wellness, diversity, and volunteerism. The PTSA rewards academic achievement, offers student scholarships, funds classroom grants, teacher appreciation events, and the FHS Food Bank. We rely entirely on membership dues and donations to fund the PTSA budget, and as a 501(c)3, your donation is tax-deductible. For details on how the funds are spent, see the proposed budget:

ANG Update ~ Now the Work Begins!
By giving a little, you will help out a lot...
Fundraising is an important focus of the All Night Grad Committee. The more success we have with fundraising, the lower we can keep our ticket prices while providing more activities for our graduates at the party. To do this, we need your help. The All Night Grad Committee is still in need of people to take on the following fundraising positions:
If you already know you want to help at the Holiday Craft Fair, you can email us at: ANG@fairfaxptsa.org.
In addition to volunteering, donations to the All Night Grad Party are always welcome. If you, or your friends and family, would like to make a donation to the All Night Graduation Party, you can donate online at the PTSA’s giving-site:
https://fairfaxhs.memberhub.com/store/items/931830
Donations are tax-deductible.
In addition to fundraising, we are still looking for someone to fill the role of School Communications and Social Media Coordinator. If you, or someone you know, has a flair for social media, we’d like your help in spreading the message about All Night Grad.
If you have any questions about the All Night Grad Party, or would like to talk about how you can help, please email us at ANG@fairfaxptsa.org
We look forward to all parents’ support for the All Night Grad Party. Together, we will make this a night for our seniors to remember!
