VGA Testing: In 2021, the Virginia General Assembly introduced the expectation for new state "through-year" assessments in elementary and middle schools. Beginning last school year, students in grades 3-8 take the Virginia Growth Assessment (VGA) in fall and winter. The purpose of these assessments is to measure student growth and progress in reading and mathematics content standards. Your children took the reading VGA last week and will take the math VGA this week. These tests are not graded and are used to guide the teacher's instruction.
Family Engagement Meeting: Our first Family Engagement meeting is this Thursday, September 28th, from 10:00-10:45 in the cafe. The topic will be the importance of attendance and what to do if your child has school refusal. There will be Spanish and Arabic interpretation. We hope to see you Thursday morning! |

Attendance Competition with Beech Tree ES
Week 3 was a tie! Both Glen Forest and Beech Tree had a 95% attendance rate. Great job! More good news is that all of our classes hit the goal of 80% attendance for the week, with Ms. Madigan's 1st grade class at 100% for the second week in a row! Ms. Lentz's preschool class also had 100% attendance this past week!
September is Attendance Awareness Month! Thank you for your support in ensuring your child is at school if they are not sick. If they have an appointment, please bring them to school after morning appointments or pick them up early for afternoon appointments. If your child is demonstrating school refusal, please contact your child's teacher or guidance counselor to see how we can help.
Let's beat Beech Tree in the final week of competition! Goooo Eagles!!!
