A note from Dr. Goodloe

Dear Charger Families,

It is great to be a Chantilly Charger! This week there has been so much positive energy at school in the hallways, classrooms and at activities as we continue to make connections as a school community. Students and faculty enjoyed our first Wellness Fair of the year during Charger Connect which included opportunities for all Chargers to take a wellness break inside or outside of the building. Pickleball, Kickball, Soccer and Walking the track were popular options. Many students enjoyed board games in the library, while others created in Art spaces, and others socialized with friends.  In the words of one of our Seniors, “no matter how old you are, you always need recess!”

I had the wonderful opportunity to hear inspiring stories from several student leaders from Chantilly and other FCPS high schools at the Student Equity Ambassador Leaders (SEALS) kickoff. We can learn so much from our students when we empower them to share their voices and advocate on behalf of their peers. I am excited for the partnership with our Chantilly leaders.

About 150 students across grade levels connected during our Student Mentoring Kick-off earlier today.  Student leaders and new mentees forged connections as they met new people and shared strategies for supporting one another to feel welcomed and a sense of belonging at CHS. If you would like to know more about our peer mentoring program, please reach out!

The Chantilly Faculty and Staff is looking forward to connecting ahead of our home football game against Madison HS at a pre-game BBQ. I am truly looking forward to sharing time with my colleagues and our families this evening over dinner and then at the game. I hope to see many of our Charger families later this evening.

Welcome Coffee - September 27, 8:30 AM

As we start the new school year, please join me and members of our staff for coffee and conversation on Wednesday, September 27, at 8:30am. All parents and caregivers are welcome!  As part of Blue Star Welcome Week, we also want to welcome our military affiliated families to our school community.  I hope you will plan to attend.  Please RSVP so that we may plan for space and refreshments. I look forward to connecting with you.

Upcoming Meeting - Join PTSA!

The first general membership PTSA meeting of the 23-24 school year will be held on Thursday, September 23 at 6:30 PM in room 123. All Chantilly families, caregivers, community members, and students are welcome at the meetings and are encouraged to join the PTSA. Visit the PTSA website to learn more about the great support provided for our school, students, faculty and community and the options for membership. PTSA is great opportunity to connect with the Chantilly community.

We value your feedback. Share your observations, suggestions, questions and celebrations with me here. I look forward to connecting with you at Chantilly very soon.

Charger Headlines:

Student Late Buses

Did you know that there are late buses available for students who stay after school on Mondays and Thursdays each week?  The runs and stops are different from a student's regular bus assignment and leave Chantilly between 4:40 and as late as 5:30. We encourage students to stay after school for activities and extra support from teachers and access bus transportation as needed. If you would like your student to arrive home more quickly, you may want to arrange for an alternate form of transportation.

We All Belong at School - Attendance Matters!

It’s Attendance Awareness Month. Each one of us is unique, and every student matters. If your student is having a difficult time attending class, please speak with a trusted adult at school. There are solutions.

Watch this video to see how everyone belongs at school. Visit our Attendance webpage for resources on attendance. Attend today, achieve tomorrow!

Student Rights and Responsibilities Acknowledgement Due

FCPS’ updated Student Rights and Responsibility (SR&R) booklet is available online and in SIS ParentVUE. The SR&R booklet explains expectations for student behavior, and adult responses to enhance school safety and to create a fair, equitable, and supportive school environment.

Each year, we ask parents/caregivers to review and sign the SR&R. The SR&R will be visible upon logging in to SIS ParentVUE until the SR&R acknowledgment has been completed.

Signatures are due by Friday, September 29. Please contact our front office if you are having difficulty accessing the booklet. Visit the SIS ParentVUE Account Overview webpage for help logging in to your account.
