Hello Scottie Families!

We enjoyed seeing our 5th & 6th grade strings students perform at Robinson Secondary School on Friday night, and this week we are looking forward to many events, including 4th grade strings (Monday night), 5th & 6th grade chorus and band (Tuesday night), our PTO "Mad Science" assembly on Wednesday, and Field Day on Thursday.

A reminder that we are still accepting gently worn and new books for our summer Bookmobile.  Please consider sending in any books you are able to contribute with your student and have them place them in the boxes outside the library door.  Thank you for supporting this fun summer reading initiative!

We hope you all enjoy the weekend with your family.  Two weeks to go, Scotties!

Learning Around BBES

updates

Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony

Our 6th grade promotion ceremony is scheduled for June 15, from 9-10 AM, in the BBES cafeteria.  We are excited to celebrate our 6th graders’ promotion to middle school!  Due to limited seating in the cafeteria, we are recommending up to two guests for each family.  Should we reach maximum capacity in the cafeteria, we will live stream the ceremony to the gymnasium for overflow viewing.  This is a special day for our 6th grade students and families, and we look forward to recognizing them on Thursday, June 15 from 9-10 AM!

Yearbook Updates

Yearbooks will be distributed to sixth grade students on June 14 and the rest of the school on June 15.  If families did not pre-order a BBES Yearbook, we will have a limited number of copies for sale in our front lobby the week of June 5-June 9 (as students arrive).  Yearbooks can be purchased for $25 (one per student).  Students can bring in exact cash or a check made out to "Bonnie Brae Elementary", with "Yearbook" written in the For section.  We will deliver purchased yearbooks to classroom teachers to distribute.

Student Testing Results Coming Soon

Starting in late May, caregivers will receive reports for assessments their students completed this spring. Not sure what assessments your student took this year? A list of tests by grade level is available. Scores will be delivered in SIS ParentVUE, by mail, or from the school or testing organization. Learn what to expect regarding assessment reporting practices and timelines

Some families will also receive a Virginia’s Visualization and Analytics Solution (VVAAS) Student Assessment Summary report with historical Standards of Learning (SOL) test results from 2015-2022.

Go online or contact your student's school for additional information about student assessments

Bonnie Brae Bookmobile

This summer, Bonnie Brae Elementary School (BBES) will introduce the Bonnie Brae Bookmobile to provide books to students during Summer 2023.  The Bonnie Brae Bookmobile will run on July 6, 2023 from 10 a.m.-12p.m. and July 25, 2023 from 2-4 p.m. and will be stopping at four locations in the community, with the last stop being the BBES parking lot, to distribute books and popsicles to our students! Community stops will be announced before the end of the school year.

We need your support!  Please consider making a donation of any new or gently used books to support this summer reading initiative!  New and/or gently used books will be collected through June 16, 2023 in boxes outside the library by the music room.  Questions or suggestions?  Please contact Karen Radcliffe at keradcliffe@fcps.edu.
