Hello Justice HS Students, Families, and Community Members:
On this special day, we celebrate all the amazing mothers out there, including those who have passed away but continue to inspire and guide us every day. To all the mothers among us, thank you for your hard work, dedication, and love. We appreciate everything you do for your children and for our Justice Family.
For those of us who have lost our mothers, we honor their memory and the impact they had on our lives. Though they may no longer be with us, they live on in our hearts and memories, and we will always cherish the time we had with them.
So to all the wonderful mothers and those who remember and honor them, Happy Mother's Day! Your contributions to our lives and the world will never be forgotten.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Congratulations AVID Seniors!
It was a big week for our Justice High School and our AVID Seniors!
On Monday evening, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Falls Church branch gave out 17 scholarships, of which our 15 were won by Justice High School students!
AAUW-Falls Church is a local organization of women supporting young women going to college. They are always interested in having new members from the community join (Justice teachers welcome!). One of their biggest fundraisers, that helps pay for these scholarships for our students, is their annual used book sale which will take place on Saturday, May 20 at the City of Falls Church Community Center. Feel free to stop by, purchase a book, and help support their scholarships that go to our students.
AAUW-Falls Church also recognized Ms. Anderson and Mr. Welch for their efforts in supporting our students going to college. In addition, AAUW-Falls Church gave the Justice High School AVID program a grant to support college trips next school year.

On Tuesday evening, the Fairfax Hispanic Leadership Alliance (HLA) held its annual scholarship banquet at the FCPS Gatehouse Administrative Center. Out of 32 countywide scholarships awarded, 9 went to students from Justice High School. Our school was acknowledged by HLA’s leadership for having the most applicants and receiving the most scholarships out of any high school.
In addition, the keynote speaker at the HLA Scholarship Awards Banquet was Jasmin Chavez, Justice High School graduate class of 2015 and previous HLA scholarship winner, who now works for President Biden on the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, & Economic Opportunity for Hispanics. Jasmin was wonderful in her remarks and also thanked all those at Justice High School who helped her grow into the successful young woman she is today.

Congratulations Kim Lanoue - Volunteer of the Year!
The Fairfax County Council PTA (FCCPTA) announced their 22-23 award winners at their General Membership meeting last Wednesday, May 3rd. Justice HS PTSA President Kim Lanoue was selected as the High School Volunteer of the Year. The FCCPTA supports all the PTA's and PTSA's in Fairfax County, and their award winners were also nominated and forwarded to the Virginia PTA (VAPTA) annual awards program to be held later this month.
FCCPTA noted Kim was selected as the award winner for her work starting up the Wolf Shack food pantry, her advocacy throughout the renovation planning process, and her role in starting up a new annual social and fundraising event Wolves at the Lodge, in addition to all the regular duties and responsibilities of a PTSA President. Congratulations Kim and thank you for all your work for our community!

JUSTICE HS PTSA NEWS
The Wolf Shack
The Wolf Shack: School Store and Resource Pantry is open! We are very excited to be able to establish this avenue to serve our school community. We provide essential resources that students can easily collect, starting with food and toiletries and moving to clothing and academic, artistic, and athletic supplies. We will use the funds earned from the sale of the spirit-wear, snacks, and drinks to restock the pantry. The success of this endeavor is dependent upon the financial support and volunteerism of the students, staff, and community.
Please donate food, essentials, money, Amazon or Giant gift cards, and sign-up to volunteer. With your continued donations we can maintain needed provisions. THANK YOU!

Food For Neighbors
Justice High School's PTSA is partnering with Food For Neighbors to help feed our local students who deal with food insecurity outside of school hours. Even in a county as wealthy as ours, one in four kids in our area are struggling with hunger.
Through the Food For Neighbors’ Red Bag Program, you’ll make a difference in a local student’s life just by adding a few extra items to your shopping cart five times a year. And the best part - our students will immediately benefit from your generosity!
To learn more about how you can help, visit the Food For Neighbors’ website at www.foodforneighbors.org/get-involved.

PTSA: Parent, Teacher & Students Association
PTA is a national nonprofit membership organization whose mission is to make every student’s potential a reality. At the high school level, students can also join to participate and hold leadership positions.
Get Involved! Become a member of the PTSA ($10 for the school year). You will have a vote in planning our community programs. The more members the PTA has at the school, state, and national levels, the stronger our voice.
