Happy Mothers Day

As we approach Mother's Day, White Oaks would like to take a moment to acknowledge the incredible women who have shaped our lives and continue to do so every day. Mothers are truly the backbone of our families and communities, and their tireless efforts often go unnoticed and unappreciated.

At our school, we recognize the critical role that mothers play in the lives of our students. We see firsthand the love, support, and guidance that they provide to their children, both inside and outside of the classroom. We also know that being a mother is not an easy task, and we want to thank all of the amazing moms out there for their unwavering commitment and dedication to their families.

On behalf of our entire school community, We want to wish all of the mothers a very happy Mother's Day. We hope that this day is filled with love, laughter, and relaxation. May you be showered with appreciation and gratitude, not just on this special day, but every day of the year.

Message From the SCA

Hello White Oaks Parents!

The SCA officers want to tell you about the “Try Something New Challenge”. The “Try Something New Challenge” is literally just what it says. We want students to try something they haven’t tried before. It could be a new food, a new hobby, a new sport…. anything a bit out of their comfort zone. Our goal is to encourage students to break out of their old habits and expand their interests.  Plus, it will just be fun.

We have a form in the Students Course in Schoology where students can upload a picture of them trying something new and describing how it felt. The picture will then be hung up on the walls of the school to encourage their friends and teachers to try something new. Parents may use this link to upload a picture of their student participating here: https://forms.gle/aLWf4g7BCaAahTd97

So, remind or tell your kids to Try Something New!

Thank you,

The White Oaks Student Association Officers

Planning for Next School Year

Please help us as we plan for next school year by completing the Student’s Intention for Next School Year form and the Parent Input Survey that were sent home earlier this month. Accurate enrollment numbers and parent input are important as we thoughtfully consider classroom placements for next year. If you need another copy of either form, please contact Marti Lee at mllee@fcps.edu

Middle School Sports

🏃‍♀️ Middle School Athletics Coming This Fall

FCPS has designated funding in the budget for 2023-24 for middle school spring and fall athletic activities to support student well-being at no cost to students. Pending budget adoption, this will be the first time FCPS has offered middle school students a chance to participate in extracurricular sports programs.

Middle schools will start with cross country this fall. Track will follow in spring 2024.

Any middle school students who would like to participate in athletics will need to have a Virginia High School League (VHSL) pre-participation examination (PPE). The physical exam form must be completed and signed by a physician, nurse practitioner, or physician’s assistant. Fairfax County public high schools will offer PPEs at a cost of $50 per student through June 17. Students who receive free or reduced meals are eligible to receive an exam at no cost. Learn more about PPE and middle school athletics.
