Congratulations to band, orchestra, chorus, and drum line students for putting on an amazing spring concert last week! All Cameron students gathered to watch the performance. Kudos to the musicians and our wonderful music teachers!
SOL Test Schedule
Students in grades 3-6 will begin taking their SOL tests in May. Be sure to return the yellow retake permission form to your child's teacher! Below is the schedule for testing. Students should remember to get a good night of sleep and arrive to school on time on testing day! Students in testing grades will keep their laptops at school for the duration of testing.
May 10 - 5th grade science, 6th grade reading
May 11 - 3rd grade reading, 4th grade reading
May 16 - 5th grade reading , 6th grade math
May 17 - 3rd grade math, 4th grade math
May 18 - All grades reading make-ups, 5th grade science make-ups
May 23 - 5th grade math
May 25 - All grade math make-ups
May 30 - Science retakes
May 31 - Reading retakes
June 1 - Math retakes

How to Register for Pre-K or Early Head Start
Fairfax County offers pre-K for students 3-4 years old whose parents meet income requirements and Early Head Start is for infants, toddlers, and expectant mothers who meet income requirements. To register, parents or caregivers should:
- Complete the application form.
- Make a copy of the child’s birth certificate and a residency document (lease, dead, or mortgage).
If your child is selected for one of the programs, the following will need to be completed:
- A school physical.
- Dental exam.
- FCPS school registration forms.
SEL Screener Results
Students in grades 3-12 took the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener in March. The SEL Screener reports will be mailed directly to families in the next week. This website includes both the Parent Report as well as a Family Guide to support you in understanding results and ideas for talking with your student about tseir results. Both are available in multiple languages. To learn more about SEL and how we support students at school and at home please see the FCPS SEL website. Please reach out to our School Counselor, Lisa Heath, or your child’s classroom teacher with any questions.

Community Conversation: School Safety and Security
FCPS will host a community conversation to discuss our approach to safety and security, and the work we do every day to keep our schools safe. Join us Monday, May 8, 6:30-7:30 p.m., at South Lakes High School. Register for the Community Conversation..
FCPS staff and experts will review our risk assessment processes, the physical measures we already have in place to protect our students and staff, pilot programs to detect vaping, and how we communicate and collaborate with our partners when there is an incident at our schools.
