Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

After a hiatus, the weekly message is back! Throughout this spring, our students have been hard at work making magic on the field, stage and in competitions. Let the shout outs begin!!

  • Langley Concert Choir and Madrigals both received the highest recognition (Superior) at district assessment. Madrigals scored a Superior in all 8 categories in which they were adjudicated. These Superior ratings, along with the one earned by orchestra earlier this year, garners our music program a “Blue Ribbon School” as awarded by the Virginia Music Educators Association. Langley is one of only four middle or high schools to have this streak for over ten years. We are so proud of our amazing musicians and incredible teachers!
  • More great news for Langley band! For only the third year in the school’s 57 year history, the program has been named a “Virginia Honor Band” by the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association. This is quite an honor. Band students, we are proud of you!
  • Congratulations to Langley debaters Connor Chun, Michaela Frey, and Vishwa Rakasi who all brought home medals for their performance at the VHSL State Debate Championships. Connor and Michaela, both freshmen, finished third in Public Forum, and Vishwa Rakasi, a sophomore, finished in fourth in Lincoln-Douglas.
  • Our Science Olympiad team has been selected to attend the national competition happening later this month. We congratulate these students and wish them the best of luck!
  • A super shout out to Danna Jia, Sin Kwan Xu and Patrick Ying. Out of 350,000 students, these mathematicians were part of only 200 students worldwide invited to the Math Olympiad highest level of competition.
  • Sixty-four Saxons took the National Spanish exam. We commend these scholars for their efforts. They earned many awards ranging from Gold to Honorable Mention.
  • Way to go Model Judiciary Club who represented NOVA in the Model Judiciary Program’s VA Supreme Court Moot Court event (sponsored by the YMCA/Virginia Bar Association).
  • Congratulations to Tiffany Li on her Silver medal earned in the National Scholastic Art & Writing competition.
