Thoreau Matters

April 14, 2023

Dear Thoreau Families,

I hope that everyone had a wonderful spring break! It was great to welcome back our staff and students for a productive end of the 3rd quarter.  SIS ParentVue and SIS StudentVue Gradebook and Report Card Modules will be unavailable Thursday, April 13 at 4:00 pm until Tuesday, April 25 at 6 am in order for teachers to finalize third quarter grades. After April 25, 3rd quarter report cards will be visible in SIS StudentVue and ParentVue.

This week in Advisory, students learned about Arab American heritage month by exploring art, language, food and diversity. Next week students will learn about Purple Up day to acknowledge and celebrate military-connected youth. Please encourage your child to wear purple on Wednesday, April 19! The cultural heritage month lessons during our Advisory class this year have been a wonderful way for Thoreau students to collaborate on artifacts and posters to demonstrate their learning. Before the end of the year, we will be installing bulletin boards for use in displaying materials to celebrate our community’s various cultural heritages. We continue to seek ways to promote belonging at Thoreau and we are proud of our many differences.

Sincerely,

Teresa Khuluki

Principal
