Principals' Message

Dear Freedom Hill Families,

We hope you are well! It was a busy week "On the Hill" as we had school pictures, an exciting 4th grade field trip to Gunston Hall, and our inaugural 6th grade Career Day. We also, of course, kicked off our 2023 Readathon. A big thank you to all of the staff and parent volunteers who made each of these events a success! Let's keep up with the good books this week as we look to end our Readathon strong.

We hope to see you in the coming weeks with much more fun, including a PTA meeting this week, our spring Book Fair next week, and Family Dinner Out and 2023-24 Kindergarten Orientation all on the near horizon. If you are interested in signing up for before/afterschool spring enrichment, please remember that the signup ends today.

Finally, the signup form for our Watch D.O.G.S. program is open. Please see below for the link.

In partnership,

Nicholas Zapadka, Principal

Eric Kopacz, Assistant Principal

Positivity Project: Identifying and Appreciating the Good in Others

p2

This week, we are working on ONE of the FIVE overarching pillars of the Positivity Project. Identifying and appreciating the good in others can sometimes be difficult to do if we are too focused on ourselves.

“It’s not the failure of others to appreciate your abilities that should trouble you, but rather your failure to appreciate theirs.”

           ~Confucius

Questions you might enjoy talking about:

  • What is expressing appreciation?
  • Why does it take COURAGE to express appreciation?
  • What are some ways you can show appreciation of others?
  • How does it make you feel when someone expresses appreciation?
