Major Pride
The following students were recognized in a ceremony at NVCC’s Annandale Campus last night for their achievements in the 2023 Regional Scholastic Art Awards. Angelina Medrano, 12th Grade, Gold Key in Photography, Recipient of the “Dr. Grace Taylor Region 3 Assistant Superintendent Award.” And Precious Manu, 9th Grade, Gold Key in Painting.
Congratulations to these two amazing art students! Their work will be on display in the Ernst Cultural Center Gallery at NVCC’S Annandale Campus until March 23, 2023.
The gallery is open during regular business hours and when any evening events are happening in the gallery or auditorium. Visitors to campus Monday through Friday before 3:45 p.m. should park in the hourly parking garage. After 3:45 p.m. parking in the garage and in the parking lots is open and free.
MVHS Orchestra Day
On Monday, February 27th we hosted our 6th Annual MVHS Orchestra Day. It was a big success for all of our students! Mr. Joel Ross, a music educator from the Shenandoah area, joined us for a full day of awesome instruction and preparation for the upcoming District 10 Assessment Performances on Saturday, March 4th. Our students were treated to a full day of ensemble playing, independently-led sectionals, reflective learning, team building/games, and of course a pizza party!

New Scholarships
Jackson Casey Scholarship - 2 $1500 winners
Scholarships will be awarded to 2 winners each in the amount of $1500. Students must be a current/former Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association (FHYAA) athlete. The Jackson Casey Scholarship was established in memory of Jackson Casey, who participated in lacrosse, basketball, and football and was a good teammate and friend to so many fellow players. Jackson's legacy, talent and sportsmanship will forever be remembered by those he touched. The recipient(s) of this scholarship will not only be a current or former Fort Hunt athlete(s), but also exemplify these character traits. Women's Caucus for Art of Greater Washington DC Visual Arts Scholarship
The Women’s Caucus for Art of Greater Washington, DC (WCADC) offers twelfth-grade students (enrolled in a public or private school in Washington, DC, Maryland, or Virginia for the last 2 years) and plans to attend a two or four-year college or university to study Fine Arts, the opportunity to apply for a scholarship as well as encourages and recognizes artistic excellence among DC, MD, and VA BIPOC(Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color) womxn students. Dual Enrollment Workshops
The College and Career Center will be hosting dual enrollment workshops for any student who is a new dual enrollment student who needs to complete the NOVA application and create their Dual Enrollment portal. We will be having two sessions during Major Time - 3/14 & 3/22
Virtual FCPS Military Night (HS)
FCPS Virtual Military Night is March 20, 2023 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm. FCPS students and families will learn about the various pathways available, including enlistment, ROTC, Senior Military Colleges, and Service Academies. The Google Site (fcpsschools.net access required) associated with the event is live and registration is open!
