Hello Scottie Families!

We wrap up another great week of learning with our PTO “Through the Decades VIP Dance Party” tonight!  As a reminder, this is a family event, and a parent or guardian must accompany all students.  See below for more information on this fun Bonnie Brae community event!

Next week we are looking forward to our Valentine’s Day lunch, on February 14.  We hope you can join your child as we spread the love in the cafeteria and gym on Tuesday!

Pop-Up Donation Event: Spreading Love to Turkish Families - Tuesday Feb 14

Tuesday, February 14th- All Day

As we turn our attention toward celebrating Valentine's Day next week, our Bonnie Brae community will be coming together to spread the love to Turkish families who have been affected by the recent earthquake and resulting devastation.

Throughout the day on Tuesday, February 14th, we will be collecting in-kind donations of new/ gently used and clean items from the list below. The Turkish Embassy in Washington, D.C. is accepting the donations listed below and flying them directly to impacted areas for immediate use. We plan to take the items we collect at Bonnie Brae to the embassy the very next day (February 15) so that families can receive our immediate help.

Donations may be dropped off in the collection boxes outside of the main office. If your family would like to contribute, we will be accepting the following items:

- Blankets

- Tents

- Sleeping bags

- Pocket warmers

- Winter clothing (jackets, gloves, headgear, socks)

If you are able, please put your donations in a clear bag with an itemized list of the contents attached (Example: 1 baby blanket, 2 pairs of adult gloves, 1 jacket).

Please reach out to the BBES main office (703-321-3900) or Laura Kaniewski (lekaniewski@fcps.edu) with any questions. Thank you!

Valentine's Day Lunch

We are excited to invite Bonnie Brae families in for lunch on Valentine’s Day, February 14!  Parents and guardians are invited to attend lunch during their child’s lunch period, as we celebrate the Positivity Project character strength of Love the week of February 13-17. Students will be able to purchase lunch from the cafeteria on February 14, and while we do not have enough for parents to purchase from Bonnie Brae, we encourage any family members who attend to bring a lunch to eat with their child (family members can also bring a lunch in this day for their child if they wish as well!).

Interested in attending lunch with your child on Valentine’s Day and spreading the “love”?   Additionally, if you would like to volunteer to support before, during, or after lunch on February 14, please email the PTO at secretary@bonniebraepto.org and president@bonniebraepto.org to let them know you can help!

When you arrive, please check in at the front office. The chart below will show you where each grade level will be eating that day so that you can meet them at the respective doors. If you haven’t yet RSVP’d please complete this form so that we know how many visitors to expect that day.

Parents have the option to eat outside with their children, weather permitting. They may use the outdoor tent, as well as the grass area.

FCPS Cares

Monday, February 6 was Counselor/Health Professional Appreciation Day.  We are grateful for these amazing Counselor/Health Professional staff that work with our students on a daily basis to make them feel accepted and comfortable in our place of learning. Specials teachers and resource teams placed this Scottie goodie box in the main office to celebrate how amazing this professional staff is and how grateful BBES is for the work you do!
