During the winter students will continue to go outside for recess, other activities and while waiting at dismissal in the kiss and ride. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately (jackets, gloves, and hats) for the cold weather so they can comfortably enjoy their time outdoors. See the National Weather Service's tips on staying safe during cold weather.
Weather is monitored daily, and outdoor activities will be limited during National Weather Service (NWS) issued Wind Chill Advisories and Wind Chill Warnings. During a NWS Wind Chill Advisory, there will be a limit of no more than fifteen (15) minutes for any outdoor activity. During a NWS Wind Chill Warning, there will not be any outdoor activity.
If you need assistance supplying your child with cold-weather clothing, please call Fairfax County's Coordinated Services Planning (CSP) at 703-222-0880. The multilingual staff can assist with any challenges you are facing, including food, shelter, employment, financial assistance, and healthcare.
