Before submitting a grant request, it is important that you have discussed/reviewed your request with the teacher, club sponsor, department head, or Director of Student Activities, Blair Smith.
Please answer all of the questions with as much information as possible so the PTSO can have a clear understanding of what you are asking for and how it will help staff and/or students at WT Woodson.

Preparing Families for Difficult Conversations about Alcohol & Drugs - Parent Presentation
On Tuesday, January 17th from 6-8pm in Cavalier Hall, FCPS's Student Safety & Wellness Office is presenting an ADULTS ONLY program, "Preparing Families for Difficult Conversations about Alcohol Drugs."
What knowledge and information do you have to engage in meaningful conversation with your children about drugs? In this presentation you will understand basic information about alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, and opioids; learn what you can do as a caregiver; and, identify & connect with community resources.
If you are unable to attend this in-person event, a similar virtual presentation will take place on Wednesday, February 15th. Additional information on how to access the virtual presentation will be shared closer to the event.
For additional information, please contact the Student Safety and Wellness Office at 571-423-4270.
Tardy Sweeps
Due to a high volume of students not arriving to class on time, we will conduct tardy sweeps again this week. The consequence for students arriving unexcused to class will be an after-school detention on late bus days (Tuesday or Wednesday).
Parents/families, please help us by reminding your kids of the importance of getting to class on time. We all, especially our teachers, appreciate your assistance with this matter.
Calendar Reminders for Next Week
Students will be dismissed two hours early on Wednesday, January 25th, the last day of the second quarter. Thursday, January 26 and Friday January 27 are student holidays.
See the complete 2022-23 school year calendar.

Attendance
Attendance is critical to student success in the classroom.
If your student will be absent from school, a parent/guardian must notify the attendance office. Below is a quick guide for reporting all-day absences, late arrivals, and early check-outs from school.
FCPS Inclement Weather Procedures
The first five inclement weather days will be traditional “snow days” with no school activities. After those five days, FCPS will use the flexibility provided by the Virginia General Assembly to have unscheduled virtual learning days, whenever possible, to maintain the continuity of learning. Virtual learning on these days will be synchronous/live instruction, following the inclement weather virtual learning day schedule (includes a two-hour delay).
Laptop Tech Support Hours
If students need FCPS laptop technical support at Woodson HS, please submit a ticket using the FCPS Parent/Student Tech Support Portal.
Our walk-in hours in Room A114 are:
- Odd Days during Learning Seminar
- Monday - 7:45am - 8:10am
- Wednesday - 2:55pm - 4:00pm (when late buses start)
Any other time you should try to make an appointment using a ticket from the Support Portal.
Late Buses Available Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Late buses are available Tuesdays and Wednesdays through spring. Students may stay after school to participate in clubs/activities and/or receive academic intervention with teachers.
Tuesday and Wednesday late buses start loading around 4:45pm and depart from Woodson at approximately 5:15pm. Students who access the smaller bus runs need to sign up for a bus in Room F122 before lunch each late bus day.
Please note, students may NOT go across the street to the shopping center after school and then return for the late bus.
Student Parking Passes
There are 2 steps to purchase a student parking pass: 1) Complete the Parking Permit Application 2) Pay on MySchoolBucks. Navigate to the School Store, select the option for a parking permit, and check out. Bring your printed receipt with you when picking up your permit. Click here for the Woodson Student Parking website
Staying Home When Sick
FCPS continues to require families to review the Daily Health Screening before sending students to school. The 5 Day Isolation Period will also continue for COVID positive students and staff.
