Dear Fairhill Families,
We hope you had a wonderful long weekend and had a moment to reflect on the tremendous impact that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had on our country. We heard from a few students today that they were engaged in service projects over the weekend or visited the MLK memorial in DC. We are so incredibly fortunate to have DC in our backyard.
This week our pictures focus on students in specials. Did you know that every Fairhill student has specials for an hour a day? When asked, many of our students will name at least one special as their favorite part of the day. Do you know your child’s favorite subject?
We are looking forward to seeing you on Friday evening for some fun filled family BINGO games here in the Cafeteria!

Congrats to Mr. Cooper during Principal Appreciation Week!!
Congratulations to Mr. Cooper who won the Outstanding New Principal Award for Region 2! Dr. Zuluaga, Region 2 Assistant Superintendent, came to Fairhill this afternoon to surprise and present Mr. Cooper with this most prestigious award.

Calling all Fairhill families to play BINGO!
Please mark your calendars for family-friendly Bingo on Friday, 20 January 6-8 pm in the school cafeteria. All students will receive one free bingo card. After that, all cards are only $2.00 each. We hope to see you there!
Please sign up to help make the night run smoothly. We are also collecting donations for bingo prizes. You can drop off any new or gently used toys to the bin inside the school office or please contact maari.hanson@gmail.com if you have any comments or questions.
Don't forget to pre-order pizza for dinner as you play bingo. Thank you!

Career Day
Our third annual Career Fair will be on April 28, 2023! The purpose of Career Day is to expose students to a variety of careers in order to jumpstart their thinking about the future. By preparing early, students will be more likely to be college and career ready after high school graduation. Kindergarten through 6th grade students will participate in Career Day.
We can’t do it without you! Please think about how you may be able to support Career Day! If you are interested and available, please complete this form and send back to school.

Dual Language Immersion Programs

Dual Language Immersion Program Registration Registration for the countywide lottery for Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs will open on Monday, January 23. Current pre-k students may apply for the kindergarten immersion program, and current kindergarten students may apply for the first grade immersion programs for the 2023-24 school year.
Programs are available in French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Spanish. Visit the DLI registration page for more information on where the programs are offered.
Parents who are interested in the DLI programs in FCPS are encouraged to attend an informational meeting at their school site. Meetings will begin on January 11. Details regarding access to virtual meetings will be available on the Dual Language Immersion registration page by the meeting date.
