Outstanding Employee Awards School Based

National Day of Service

January 16th is the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. There is no school on this holiday. Volunteer Fairfax provides several volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to volunteer to make a positive impact in our community.

This year, we are coming together as a Dranesville community to support food security for families in our community through a food collection for weekend meals. Please check out our Sign Up Genius to see how you can help.

Donations can be dropped off in our main office Tuesday, January 17th - Friday, January 20th.

Thank you for your role in caring for our Dranesville community.

Spring SOL Save the Date

Our students are learning and growing every day. This Spring students in grades 3-6 will show their learning on Virginia Standards of Learning assessments. We ask that you make note of the date. To every extent possible, please be sure that students are well rested and in school for scheduled assessments.

SEL Screener

Fairfax County Public Schools students in grades 3-6 complete the SEL screener, unless opted out by a parent or guardian. This survey offers valuable information about students' SEL skills, relationships, school environment, and well-being. Results are being mailed to families this first week of January.

There are resources available online to provide families information on understanding the Screener Report as well as for supporting conversations about the Screener and the domains: Supports and Environments, Skills and Competencies, and Well-being.

FCPS’ Office of Special Education Procedural Support provides guidance to staff, families, and students in areas related to the implementation of and compliance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, as amended.

Families of students in special education programs can find more resources in the Special Education Handbook for Parents. (Translations are available from the Parent Resource Center (PRC).
