1.  From the Principal's Desk

Dear Members of the Community:

Happy New Year--I hope you enjoyed the holidays with family and friends. As 2023 gets underway, the teachers and staff at CHS need your help. Like many high schools in FCPS, we are experiencing a significant increase in student tardiness this school year. We need your help to ensure that our students don’t get into bad work habits, miss the morning announcements, and—most importantly—lose instructional time. As you can see in the attached document, the problem is acute at the start of school. Please know that students riding late buses are excused, so the issue centers on those that drive, walk, ride their bike, or are dropped off by parents. High school principals in FCPS have been communicating about the issue and exchanging possible solutions, and the Chantilly HS administrative team will be communicating with students in the coming weeks about changes that are going into effect at the start of second semester (January 30th). While we are still working out the details, these changes will include a new disciplinary progression plan that will include suspension from all extracurricular activities and loss of parking privileges for students that are chronically late. Stay tuned for details. Please help us set your student up for success by taking steps to support on-time attendance.

Thanks for your help with this important matter,

Scott Poole

5.  Recent Student Successes

This is the next installment for the school year of what has become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students.  I meet with recognized students each week to congratulate them in person.

  • Madhavan Kandagatla consistently challenges himself in the field of Algebra and other mathematical fields. He not only finishes all classroom assignments on time with quality and maintains high-end performances in all his tests and quizzes so far, but also he previews future content to be taught, challenges himself with relevant exercises and comes to the classroom well prepared.  Ms. Ruoyan Du
  • Lillian McMahan is awesome in PE, She comes to class with a great attitude and is ready to work.  Mr. Frank Hamby
