Snow Days? Be Prepared!

Snow Days

The first five inclement weather days will be traditional inclement weather days. These five days may occur consecutively due to a single weather event or may take place as several individual events.

Once these five days have been taken, FCPS will use the flexibility provided by the General Assembly to have unscheduled virtual learning days, wherever possible, to maintain continuity of learning.

Stay tuned by watching the weather and always checking your texts, emails and the FCPS website at www.fcps.edu. The latest closings and delayed openings will always be posted there.

What happens if there is a delayed opening?

A 2-hour delayed opening means Brookfield students may arrive to school beginning at 9:55 am. Do NOT drop your child off before that because there is no supervision. Breakfast is not served on delayed opening mornings, but lunch will be at its regular times.

Congratulations to Brookfield’s Outstanding Employee Nominees

Each year, FCPS celebrates the efforts an accomplishments of exceptional employees throughout the district. Nominations are accepted from colleagues, supervisors, students, and parents. At Brookfield, we have many exceptional staff members who go above and beyond – and we are so thankful to everyone who shared input by nominating a deserving staff member. This year, Brookfield is honored to recognize two employees who will move on to compete in their respective categories at the pyramid level.

Outstanding Teacher: Diana Cribby, 4th Grade Teacher

Outstanding Operational Employee: Ron LeClerc, office/Library Assistant

Congratulations to each of them!

FCPS Virtual Family Math Week

FCPS Math Week

Come together as a community for students in K-8 for 5 nights the week of January 9, 2023, with delightful math games and stories - all on your own time and from the comfort of your own home. All content will be available for free directly to all families in English and Spanish.

Through rich story-based mathematics experiences, math week offers families  an opportunity to experience  math, literacy, history, and geography in a positive way. The games and stories feature several countries including Lesotho, Madagascar, Ghana, and China.

All content will be available completely free on the website starting January 9, 2023. To access the games, families will be able to simply click on the day of the week and find their child's grade and language. View the website at anytime for explanations and videos.

Families can play for as little as 15 minutes or replay over and over lasting more than an hour on any given night. For families that want to reduce screen time, we will have physical print options for access to the content and games as well.

Use the games and stories on our website or dust off your favorite math game and play it as a family.

Any and ALL math experiences outside of a normal week count. Our goal is for FCPS to experience 1,000,000 minutes of math outside of the school day. Join us!

Spanish Movie Night

The PTA would love to host another Outdoor Movie Night with a movie in Spanish.  However, we need someone to organize the event.  If you're interested in doing so, please email pta.brookfield@gmail.com.  You would help with advertising (flyers, internet blurbs), movie selection, and getting volunteers to help with set up, concessions and clean up through a flyer or signup genius. Thank you!

Bingo

Join us on Friday, January 20 for BINGO night!  We'll have pizza and snacks for sale at 5:30 and Bingo will start after 6:15pm.

If you're available to help out, please sign up here .
