Have a wonderful winter break from FCPS!

Dear Clermont Families,

Winter Break is upon us! On behalf of all the staff at CES, I want to wish you a happy and healthy Winter Break! I am thankful and honored to be working with dedicated educators, supportive parents and community members, and of course our amazing students. Each of you help make Clermont such a wonderful place to learn and grow. In order for staff to rejuvenate and spend quality time with their families, I am asking them to disconnect from email over the Winter Break. Staff will be back online Tuesday, January 3. Enjoy the break, and Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

Ms. Salata, Principal

Counselor's Corner

Our school wide focus for counseling lessons this quarter is Identifying and Using Coping Tools. Students are learning which coping tools work best for them when they are experiencing strong feelings. Each student will participate in an activity to select their personal coping tools. Students will be asked to keep this paper in their take home folder so that it is accessible whether they are at school or home.

Other classroom lessons during November and December focused on the following topics:

Kindergarten - Gaining a deeper understanding of the CARE program - Responsibility and Effort.

1st grade - Learning that mistakes produce growth.

2nd grade - Understanding our identity. Learning about the different parts of ourselves and our families.

3rd grade - Practicing upstander strategies to cope with teasing and bullying.

4th grade - Understanding and practicing the skills used in collaboration.

5th grade - Understanding and practicing the steps involved in time management.

6th grade - To become aware of courses available in middle school. To understand how to select courses.
