Dear Poplar Tree Families,
As we bring 2022 to a close, we wanted to take the time to highlight one of the many awesome things that has been happening in our building this year.
Our Paw Tech Squad students have been partnering with our Assistive Technology Coach, Ashley Kiley, to support the students in our multi-age classrooms. We call this opportunity CreATing PAWsibilities and we are so proud of the connections that are being made between ALL of our students. Each month, students from the Paw Tech Squad go into the multi-age classrooms and bring some sort of "tech" to engage with their peers. You can check out some photos below!
Last week was Inclusive Schools Week and we are proud to celebrate inclusivity all year long at Poplar Tree. We truly believe that We ALL Belong Here!

💻 CreATing PAWsibilities ❤️
The capital AT stands for Assistive Technology. Assistive Technology Services (ATS) uses computers, augmentative communication devices, and adaptive technology peripherals to maximize the potential of FCPS students with disabilities.
ATS staff members work in collaboration with school teams to ensure that all students with disabilities who require assistive technology have the technology tools and training necessary in order to access the curriculum, narrow the achievement gap, gain essential life skills, and reach their full potential.
Office Closed for Winter Break
The Poplar Tree main office will be closed from December 19 - January 2.
We will reopen on January 3!

This year, at Poplar Tree, we are focusing on helping our students be good Communicators and Collaborators! Each Tuesday, we are sharing a video of students practicing Communicating on our Good Morning Poplar Tree news show!

👣 Indoor Sensory Walks 🔄
We ordered two indoor sensory walks for Poplar Tree! One for the first floor and one for the second floor. The installation process requires many hands and we are hoping you can help!
