Full Time Services (Level IV) Referral Deadline
The deadline for referring your student for full-time (Level IV) services this year is December 15, 2022. If you are interested in referring your student for full-time services, please submit an AAP Full-Time (Level IV) Referral Form, found on the FCPS AAP Website to Lauren Keninitz (Lmkeninitz@fcps.edu). This form is required in order to initiate the referral process. There are also optional items you may submit along with the referral form. Please review the Full-Time Services Checklist for Families found on the Hayfield Elementary Advanced Academics Website to see what other optional items you may include in your child’s referral packet. The referral packet should be submitted in one e-mail to Lauren Keninitz. If you prefer to submit a paper copy, you may place the referral packet in a folder addressed to Lauren Keninitz and drop it off in the front office. Please note that December 15 is a county-wide deadline; No late submissions will be accepted. For any questions, please contact Lauren Keninitz, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher at Lmkeninitz@fcps.edu.

An important topic being discussed in FCPS is Social Emotional Learning. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) refers to foundational skills that all students and adults need to be successful. By building on the foundation provided at home, our schools provide students opportunities to develop healthy identities, relate to others, and set and achieve goals. SEL is broken down into 5 key skills, the first being:
Self- Awareness - The ability to accurately recognize one’s emotions and thoughts, and their influence on behaviors. This includes learning about different emotions, as well as exploring personal strengths and challenges. More information can be found here. Also, check out this video for more information on self-awareness and how families and educators can support students in developing this skill.
