1. From the Principal's Desk
Dear Members of the CHS Community:
Happy Friday. Today we started a new initiative we are calling the Chantilly Changemakers Speakers Series. The premise is that CHS is filled with numerous staff members that have compelling and inspiring stories to share with students. Our first featured Changemaker is our Hispanic Family Liaison, Margarita “Maggie” Rodriguez. A graduate of Chantilly HS, Maggie shared a very personal and moving account of what it was like to grow up as Mexican-American in the CHS community. Speaking in both English and Spanish, she explained how her immigrant parents overcame great obstacles to come to the United States in search of a better life. If you would like to read Maggie’s speech in it’s entirety, please go to: (link to speech in English, link to speech in Spanish)
Have a great weekend,
Scott Poole

For two years in a row the Red Cross club of Chantilly has won the CLUB of the YEAR for all of the DMV region. Presently, we have 150 members with Nithya Muthukumar as president. Last year, Sanjana Subbanna was president of the club. Red Cross continued to thrive at Chantilly HS even during the pandemic with working with disaster relief, teaching awareness and writing to our military as well as being involved in various health services like blood drives and area internships and volunteer services.
Students Nithya Muthukumar, Siddhi Surawkar, Sanjana Subbanna and Red Cross area representatives.
5. Recent Student Successes
This is the next installment for the school year of what has become a weekly segment aimed at recognizing students for demonstrating recent improvement or achievement in academics, behavior or citizenship. At the end of each recognition, you will see the name of the nominating teacher or staff member. On a rotating basis, departments will nominate students. I meet with recognized students each week to congratulate them in person.
- From the first day of class, Aarna Bhamidipati has embraced every assignment with enthusiasm. I can always count on Aarna to present her arguments with clarity, insight, and respect. At the flip of the coin, Aarna readily debates the pro or con of any issue as she keeps an open mind to opposing views. Aarna truly is a joy to teach. Ms. Barbara Clougherty
