Thanksgiving Message From Mrs. Aspuria

Dear Ravensworth Families and Community,

I want to take a moment to wish all of you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Personally, I continue to be very grateful to be a part of such a supportive and caring school community. I feel confident saying that your children truly bring joy to the staff and me every day! As I walk through the halls and interact with children and hear their enthusiastic voices, I am energized and filled with renewed purpose and goals. This year my family and I will be together with our extended family in Pennsylvania, and we are excited to come together to celebrate and reconnect with one another.  Quality time focusing on family is important during the holidays and I have asked all Ravensworth staff members to keep this in mind over the break as well.  Please know that our staff will not be answering emails during the Thanksgiving break so that they can use this time to relax and recharge.  We will be ready and eager to assist you once we return.  Whatever your plans are, home or away, please have a peaceful yet festive respite and make the time to focus on your family!

Sincerely,

Erika Aspuria

Principal

Referral forms for all advanced academic program services.

  • Grade 2 Universal Screener Referrals - Students in grade 2 may be identified for screening based on their performance on a universal screening assessment (e.g., CogAT, NNAT); or
  • Staff and Family Referrals - Students may be identified for screening based on a direct referral (a request) from their teachers, parent/guardian, or other person who knows and works with the student. This option is accessed by many FCPS parents who seek this level of service for their students. Positivity Project

gratitud

This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Gratitude. Gratitude is the quality of feelings and expressing thankfulness and appreciation. It is an affirmation that there is goodness in other people and the world and that we have received that goodness. People with the strength of gratitude have a readiness to show appreciation for kindness and to return kindness. A leading expert, Robert Emmons, calls gratitude a “relationship-strengthening emotion because it requires us to see how we’ve been supported and affirmed by other people.”

Out of all 24-character strengths, gratitude is the single best predictor of individual well-being. It is correlated with increased energy, empathy, happiness and optimism. And the great thing about gratitude is that it can be intentionally cultivated. Numerous studies have concluded that gratitude is like a muscle. The more you practice it, the stronger it gets -- and the more you’re able to reap its benefits.

Our Book Fair will take place in-person from November 28, 2022 until December 2, 2022 in the Ravensworth Elementary School Library.  Students will have an opportunity to buy books during the school day.  There will also be additional hours after school for families to visit the Book Fair too.

This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child’s eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.

If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop at our school’s Online Book Fair which starts November 22, 2022 and ends December 8, 2022. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
