Clermont thanks all the Veterans in our community for their service. This Veterans Day, Clermont ES was presented with a flag of the United States of America that was flown over the Pentagon!
Many of our military connected family members joined us this week for Clermont's High Five for Heroes parade. Our students and staff were thrilled to get to express their appreciation for all of the past and present service members in our community. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for this special day, and to the many volunteers who helped us put this event together. Pictures from the event can be found throughout this newsletter, and on the Clermont Facebook page.
In February 2023, the Clermont PTA is hosting a Scripps’ affiliated Spelling Bee at Clermont! The spelling bee is an opportunity for students to develop language skills and increase their vocabularies, practice poise under pressure, strengthen life skills including work ethic, build confidence, and have fun!
Currently, we are gauging students’ interest in the spelling bee from parents. There is no commitment at this time—we will reach out later with additional details for registration.

We are excited to announce that Clermont Elementary is forming a Military Kids Club, to bring together military-connected youth through sharing experiences, supporting relationships with civilian peers, and binging awareness and support to the military lifestyle. Please note that as our meetings will be about 45 minutes long and during the school day, it may be possible that your child will have to make up school work independently. If you would like your student to be part of this club, please complete the form below which will act as your consent to participate. We are looking forward to getting to know and support your military-connected child!

In an annual planning process, FCPS uses input from the community to help develop the school year calendar for the following year. The Calendar Survey will be sent to parents/caregivers, FCPS employees, and students in grades 7-12 next week.
The FCPS framework for creating the calendar is available online to ensure transparency, as FCPS works to build a calendar that is inclusive and equitable.

Although the community level of COVID-19 in Fairfax County is currently low, cases of RSV, the flu, and other viruses are on the rise. It continues to be important to wash your hands regularly, cover coughs and sneezes, monitor your health daily, and stay home if you are sick. For more tips, visit our Return to School website.
Mrs. Leestma's students made scientific observations and illustrations of ecosystems at Clermont.
During the year, some of our families find they need assistance with food, clothing, or other items. There are a number of community services available to provide help. If your family needs support, please return this form. I will contact you with information about getting assistance.
Please email one of us if you have questions or concerns.
