Message from the Principal

Greetings Saxons,

We begin this week’s message with a word of gratitude to our military veterans. On behalf of our Langley community, I thank you for your service. The service and sacrifices of you and your families are so deeply appreciated.

When it comes to Saxon Country, the words of Louis Armstrong ring true, “What a Wonderful World”. Our kids continue to demonstrate why our school community is known for excellence. Our student body is a class act all around!

Hats off to Langley’s Model UN team for their outstanding showing at William & Mary’s Model UN High School Competition. Team members earned eleven 5 place titles. Way to go, Team.

As you can see, great things are happening and we’re not finished yet! We wish our football team the best of luck tonight in their first round region playoff game against Yorktown. Kickoff will be at 7:00 p.m. at Langley. We’re sending positive vibes to Girls’ Cross Country as they compete in VHSL state competition on Saturday beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Oatlands. Finally, good luck to our volleyball team as they travel to take on Alexandria City High School in state playoffs on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m.

As we are settling into the second quarter of the year, I want to ensure everyone is aware of an incredible support provided by the school division. Tutor.com is available to all FCPS students 24/7. Real time assistance is available in 200+ subjects through the application. Students may access the resource through their Schoology accounts.

As the weather has turned colder, we are seeing an uptick in illness. It is noted, and so appreciated, how academically focused our students are. Teachers and staff are keenly aware of the stress students feel when they are absent from school. However, the health of everyone must be of paramount concern within our school community. If your student is ill, please do not send them to school. A student is experiencing illness isn’t fully available to tend to learning and they are compromising the health of others in the building. Teachers and staff will work with students to get them caught up when they return to school. Thank you for  your understanding and partnership in addressing this concern.

May this weekend bring blessings and great luck to all in Saxon Country!

Fondly,
