Assessment Reporting Information

We hope you have enjoyed learning about your child’s progress during conference times.  Your child’s teacher shared a variety of assessment information that will also be available to you for your personal records:

  • VRKP results for grade K will be sent via U.S. Mail before winter break
  • iReady grades 1-3 will be sent via U.S. Mail before Thanksgiving
  • iReady grades 4-6 will be posted via SIS ParentVUE before winter break
  • VGA results for grades 3-6 will be shared before winter break, pending score interpretation guidance from the Virginia Department of Education

At Stenwood, we believe our children are more than any given test score.  Please reach out to your child’s teacher with questions regarding academic progress throughout the school year.  You can find more information on assessments here, or by contacting our School Test Coordinator, Meredith Mitchell.

Supporting Your Child in a Digital World

Supporting Your Child With Common FCPS Digital Tools

Week 9: Resources to Support Your Child’s Reading

Digital

FCPS provides access to a variety of digital resources to support your child’s reading. All of these resources can be accessed from any device connected to the internet or by using data. Many resources provide access to online books across all reading levels.

Lexia provides instruction at your child’s reading level.  If your child is using Lexia outside of school, the best way to support their learning is to allow them to work through the program independently.

Below is the log in information for each resource:

Please reach out to your child’s teacher or our SBTS, Ms. Krum, if your child needs support logging into any of these resources.

SCA Winter Clothing Drive

SCA’s winter clothing drive runs from Monday, November 14th - Friday, November 18th. We are collecting new clothing items for cold weather including coats, gloves, hats, winter socks, and scarves. Please only donate wearable items- items like blankets should not be included.

Winter

All donations will support families in need at our partner school, Graham Road Elementary.

Advanced Academic Programs - Deadline 12/15

Level IV AAP Referrals (students in grades 2-6) for placement in the 2023-2024 school year are due no later than December 15th, 2022. Referrals can be submitted to the office or electronically emailed to Kaleigh Hartman at kkhartman@fcps.edu any time between now and December 15th. If submitted electronically, you will receive an email confirmation from Mrs. Hartman within 48 business hours. Contact her if you have not received a confirmation.

Level IV Referral Form and Parent/Guardian Questionnaire can be found here.

  • Parents may submit up to 2 – 8.5 x 11 single sided pages of work samples. It is recommended that parents write a brief description on the sample.

Mrs. Hartman held a parent information session on Level IV services and the referral process on September 16th.  If you were unable to join us, here is the slidedeck.

Eating Lunch With Your Child

Starting Monday, if you would like to join your child in the cafeteria during their lunch, you can sign in in the front office.  If you would like to purchase lunch, an adult meal is $4.50.  Visitors typically either purchase lunch from the cafeteria or bring a bag lunch from home. It is nice for the students to see that grownups also eat nutritious lunches. We ask that you do not bring in soft drinks or “fast-food” lunches for yourself or your child.
