MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Please join us at Langston Hughes on Tuesday, November 15, at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. We will host Monica Rogers, South Lakes Pyramid’s Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist (SAPS) for an important parent presentation titled “Youth Substance Use: Education, Prevention and Intervention.”

This is open to all pyramid parents and is not recommended for students. Bring neighbors and friends and come out to hear about his important topic.

In light of the current nationwide opioid crisis, the presentation will have an opioid focus. Representatives of the Fairfax County Police Department will also be in attendance to answer any related questions. Additional topics to be addressed include:

  • The most often used substances by youth
  • Reasons youth use substances
  • What substance use education, prevention, and intervention measures are offered to students in FCPS
  • What parents can do support their children
  • How to connect with county wide resources and supports

We look forward to seeing you there.

Aimee Monticchio

Holiday meals are a special time when families come together. Can you help make the holidays special for a local family struggling with food insecurity? Since 2016, Food For Neighbors has been providing holiday meals to students in middle and high schools throughout Fairfax and Loudoun counties. For every $50 donated to the Food for Neighbors Holiday Meals Program, they will provide a $50 grocery store gift card for a local family to purchase a nutritious and delicious meal this season. To donate, visit FFN Holiday Meals Program.
