Dear Fairhill Families,

What a wonderful weekend we had! Our students' voices soared on Friday night during the Falls Church HS football game singing The National Anthem and on Saturday, we saw some lightning speed runners at our Annual Pumpkin Pie Run!  You can see some fabulous pictures below of the run.   Thank you to everyone who was able to make the time to join their Fairhill Family this weekend and build community with each other.

This Thursday we have an important PTA meeting starting at 6:30 PM in the Fairhill Library. We will start with our traditional PTA meeting and then during our Principal Update, we will be presenting Fairhill SOL data and school plan for the 2022-2023 school year. We hope that you are able to join us during this important conversation.

All our best,

Ted & Courtney

Strategic Plan Student Survey, Grades 3 - 12

Fairfax County Public Schools is taking part in a survey for students to provide feedback that will be used to develop a Strategic Plan that will be the roadmap for the school division over the next five years. This survey will provide information on the priorities of FCPS students to Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid as she leads the planning of FCPS' future. Learn more about the Strategic Planning process.

Feedback Welcome on Proposed Family Life Education Changes

The Fairfax County School Board is reviewing recommended changes to the Family Life Education (FLE) curriculum and invites public feedback as part of the review process. In May 2022, the Family Life Education Curriculum Advisory Committee (FLECAC) presented recommended curriculum changes, to go into effect for the 2023-24 school year. Those changes include adopting gender-combined instruction, and exploring instruction of gender identity, recommended media, and other instructional changes.

The recommendations reflect leading education and child development research and expert advice. According to research cited in the recommendations, these changes will create a more inclusive learning environment, result in higher academic achievement for students, and improve school climate.

Public feedback will be shared with FLECAC and the School Board. FCPS staff and the School Board will consider all feedback but are unable to reply to individuals.

Learn more about the recommended changes. The public feedback form will be open October 31 through December 1

Public feedback will be shared with the Fairfax County Planning Commission, Board of Supervisors, School Board, and FCPS staff on the community’s view of the project and design process to date. Please be aware, at this stage in the design and construction process, no major changes may be made but small adjustments may be considered.

The November 10 community meeting will be a hybrid event, allowing participants to choose to attend in person at the Gatehouse Administrative Center (8115 Gatehouse Road, Falls Church) or virtually via Zoom.
