Parents and Caregivers,
We had a great ending to our First Quarter at Langston Hughes Middle School! Besides all the spirit-filled and fun activities from last week, we calculated grades for the students. Parents and students will be able to see the first quarter grades on Wednesday, November 9th at 6 a.m. in Parent and Student Vue.
We congratulate our Honor Roll students. We have 215 students with All A Report Cards and 326 students with A/B Report Cards! These students will be recognized on November 15th. We look forward to celebrating their great achievement.
Do remember that next week school is closed for students Tuesday, November 8th and Friday, November 11th.

The AVID Program is fundraising for the 8th grade field trip to Harrisonburg to visit 2 colleges in March. We are selling the official White House Christmas ornament. The ornament is pictured below. It also comes with a recipe card that you can scratch and smell gingerbread! Ornaments will be $25. I need to know how many to order, so please complete the form to pre-order. SIS WEEKLY PROGRESS REPORTS
All parents/guardians of Middle School students who have registered for a SIS ParentVUE Account and have a primary email address recorded in SIS ParentVUE can receive Weekly Progress Reports via email. This report provides a summary of your student(s) grades for the current quarter. To activate the Weekly Progress Reports via email, login to your SIS ParentVUE Account and first verify that you have a primary email address within the system. It is listed under the “My Account” tab. If it is blank, enter the email address where you would like to receive the progress reports and click on update account. Once confirmed, parents/guardians are able to activate and select their preferences for receiving these reports within the SIS ParentVUE “My Account” tab.
Weekly progress reports for all of your Middle and High School students will be included in one email.
For questions about a specific progress report or grade you can login into your SIS ParentVUE Account to find detailed grade book information. Additionally, your student’s teacher is always the best resource to answer any grade book questions that you may have. Weekly Progress Report Parent Quick Reference Guide

Do you have an 8th grader interested in Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology? The TJHSST application is now open! The last day to begin an application is Wednesday, November 16 at 4:00pm. Holiday meals are a special time when families come together. Can you help make the holidays special for a local family struggling with food insecurity? Since 2016, Food For Neighbors has been providing holiday meals to students in middle and high schools throughout Fairfax and Loudoun counties. For every $50 donated to the Food for Neighbors Holiday Meals Program, they will provide a $50 grocery store gift card for a local family to purchase a nutritious and delicious meal this season.
