Principal's Message

sotm

Hello Shrevewood Families,

Thank you to all who have attended first quarter parent-teacher conferences. We so appreciate the partnership that this time creates. We also realize that lives are very busy. If you have not been able to connect with your child’s teacher yet, please don’t give up! Teachers are willing to be flexible – holding them in person, over the phone, or via Zoom. Since teachers also lead extremely hectic lives, we ask that you extend grace and compassion as you collaborate on schedules.

We enjoyed recognizing our students and staff who won the Student and Staff of the Month for the Positivity Project character traits of perspective, integrity, and creativity.

First quarter progress reports will be sent home next Thursday for students in grades 1-6. These can also be accessed in Parent Vue on Thursday.

Next Tuesday, November 8, is Election Day. The day will be observed as a holiday for students and teachers. Next Friday, November 11, is a student holiday/school planning day for the Veterans Day holiday. Veterans Day provides a great reason to pause, reflect, and recognize the extraordinary sacrifices our Veterans and their families have made on our behalf, and we thank them for their service.

Sincerely,

Joshua DeSmyter, Principal

Katie Vandawalker, Assistant Principal

Positivity Project

p2

Next week in our Positivity Project lessons in Morning Meeting, we are focusing on Bravery. A brave person acts with mental, moral, or physical strength even when you know things are difficult or scary.

“I learned that courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.” -Nelson Mandela
