We are a family.
We are capable.
We are caring.
We all belong!
Our staff and students had fun participating in the Storybook Character dress up on Friday!
There is no school tomorrow, Monday October 31, 2022 - student holiday.
The Bren Mar Park office will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Thank you to all of the families who joined us for Tuesday's Advanced Academics Program (AAP) Planning Community meeting. Mrs. Williams, principal, and Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, Mrs. Trope, shared the exciting proposal of working towards provided AAP Local Level IV services here at Bren Mar Park. This would provided families of those students eligible for level IV services the opportunity to choose to stay at Bren Mar Park rather than go to the local AAP center. In addition, the learning and structures would provide many children access and opportunities to the rich resources that this opportunity provides.

Beginning October 18, FCPS is asking all families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If Sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All responses are confidential.
Returning this form is important, because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
Watch the video to learn more about this process.
On Thursday, November 17, families are invited to join their children for Thanksgiving lunch here at Bren Mar Park! We are not able to provide Thanksgiving school lunches to families due to staff shortages, and we invite families to bring their own lunch as together we celebrate all the things for which we are thankful!
Thanks to donations from the Fire Fighters and Friends organization we have received some winter coats. As the weather grows colder, if you find your student is in need of a coat, please reach out to Sandra Chetelat, sfchetelat@fcps.edu.
We are extremely grateful to the Fire Fighters and Friends organization for their ongoing support to our BMP community with donations of backpacks, school supplies and coats.

Using ST Math at Home
Your child has been using ST Math games during math workshop and should continue to practice at home. The ideal time is between 20-30 minutes each session. This will allow students to master concepts and persevere.
In ST Math, the game puzzles start off simple and then get more challenging as the student progresses. When a student reaches a challenging problem, she/he may ask for your help.
As a parent, you might ask questions like:
- What do you notice about the puzzle?
- What things can you click on?
- What question is this puzzle asking?
- Describe the strategy that you are going to use.
- Describe what you see after you try your strategy? What did you learn?
- What will you do now?
- If your child continues to be stuck and does not know what to do, have them play a previous level. Ask, “What did you learn from the previous level that can help you in this new level?”
- Students access ST Math through their Schoology account or Student Links on Bren Mar Park website.
