Veterans Day

Veterans Day Celebration

Do you have a veteran or active servicemember in your life? Kings Park and Kings Glen students and their families are invited to post a video message on Flipgrid. Please use this link to share a photo of your veteran and/or tell us about your veteran's service.  Flipgrid access is available with your child's fcpsschool.net login by choosing Join with Google

If you don't have a veteran or active servicemember among your loved ones, you can use this Flipgrid to thank veterans and servicemembers and share what this day means to you.

Please complete your Flipgrid video by Friday November 4, 2022.

Thank you for your participation! We are excited to share this Veteran’s Day Flipgrid tribute with KP/KG community on or before Veterans Day

Attendance Procedures

Attendance is a key component to successful learning.  When students miss too many days of school, they fall behind and struggle to keep up with their classmates.  Some helpful hints to minimize absences for your child:

  • Limit travel to the already-scheduled student holidays.  View the 2022-23 school year calendar here for your planning purposes.
  • Make appointments in the late afternoon so that your child misses as little school as possible.
  • Click here for more helpful tips to help your child be successful by minimizing absences.

If you must take your child out of school for more than one day, it is important to complete the Prearranged Absence form and submit it to Kings Glen as soon as possible for review.  It is helpful to become familiar with the Attendance Regulation so that you can maximize your child’s educational experience.

yearbook cover contest

Yearbook Cover Contest

Deadline Friday, November 18

The yearbook cover contest has started at Kings Glen! This year’s theme is “Together We Are G.A.T.O.R.” Please see the flier for more details. The contest ends November 18th. Please turn in all entries to Mrs. Fitzgerald, Art Teacher.  (View Instructions)

Family Life Education

Students in grades K-6 participate in Family Life Education (FLE) instruction through their classroom teacher. Students in Grades 4-6 receive instruction in a human growth and development unit and an emotional and social health unit. For more information about the FCPS Family Life Education program, please see the detailed grade-level program descriptions at https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary-family-life-education-fle.

In addition, grade level-specific curriculum lessons are available for review in multiple locations.

  • Online in Schoology - includes lessons and media titles that FCPS has streaming rights for. Any additional media or book titles that are not streamed are available at your child’s school library. Parents/guardians login to Schoology using the same username and password as their Student Information System (SIS) Parent account. (Parent/Guardian Access to FLE Materials in Schoology)
  • At Kings Glen,  Mrs. Agner will be available at 5:00 pm on Monday, November 7 in the cafeteria at Kings Glen to answer questions.
  • City of Fairfax Regional Library – lessons only.  Media is not available.

Parents/guardians who do not wish to have their child participate in FLE instruction may choose to opt their child out of any or all of the lessons. If you would like to opt your child out of one or more lessons, please fill out the form provided to you in your child’s first day folder or you may access the opt out forms online at https://www.fcps.edu/academics/elementary-family-life-education-fle. If you have already indicated your desire to opt your child out of FLE lessons by using the form provided earlier in the school year, you do not need to complete another form. Should you opt your child out and then later decide you want your child included in FLE instruction, you must notify your child’s school principal in writing before instruction begins.
