Hello Scottie Families!

Such a fun week of learning, capped of with a great SCA Spirit Day today (Costume Day)!  Bonnie Brae was filled with students and staff dressed as storybook characters, in costumes, or wearing our school colors of blue and white.  A truly joyful learning experience today, and we loved seeing the Positivity Project character strength of creativity on display throughout the building!

Our Book Fair was a huge success and there is one last opportunity this afternoon for families to come in and purchase. The Book Fair is open from 2:00 - 4:00 PM today.  Thank you to Ms. Lewis for all her efforts to make our Book Fair soar!

Enjoy the fall colors this weekend.  Be safe, have fun, and we will see our Scotties back at school on Tuesday!

The students first learned a choreographed danced or learned a theater script and then the lights went out for their performance. We are so grateful for our amazing educators here at BBES!

All Saints Day/Dia de los Muertos

All Saints Day/Dia de los Muertos

Dia de los Muertos is an opportunity to remember and celebrate the lives of departed loved ones. Tuesday, November 1, and Wednesday, November 2, are “O” Days, religious and cultural observances noted in the school calendar. To learn more about Dia de los Muertos, watch this video.

While Dia de los Muertos is largely celebrated in Mexico and Latin America, it also coincides with All Saints Day (November 1) and All Souls Day (November 2). These days are celebrated by Catholics, Anglicans, and some Protestants worldwide to honor those who have died and gone to heaven (All Saints Day) and those who may still be in purgatory (All Souls Day).

The school calendar recognizes many O days during the school year. Classes are held on these days, however, the School Board has directed that tests, quizzes, field trips, graduation, homecoming, or FCPS-scheduled athletic events not be held on these observance days. Read Regulation 2234.12 for details.
