Would you like to be a part of the RCMS PTA Family? Members and volunteers are needed. The Carson PTA is sponsoring school events in support and gratitude for our educators and families and kicking off 2 major fundraisers to support our mission statement in support of our students. Parents, please join the PTA fun and participate in our "Name that Tune" contest. Congratulations to a parent winners, Leah and Stephanie for winning a $15 and $10 gift card, respectively, to Starbucks! Gift cards may now be picked up in the main office.
October is Membership Drive Month, and we would really like to meet our goals in the last week of October so NOW is the time when we REALLY need YOUR help! Let's make RCMS PTA special by making it a large and engaging membership. Yesterday we launched the October membership drive with our "Tell-A-Friend'' campaign. As we plan for some exciting family events, we ask that you tell a friend and ask them to please join at https://rcmspta.memberhub.com/store. Our ultimate goal is to get 100% participation from our RCMS families. We are currently at 8.4% participation. If we can a little more than double that as a goal, we believe that we will be able to continue operating our RCMS PTA in the most outstanding manner which has been a Carson tradition. We have a long way to go but with each member participating in our Tell-A-Friend campaign that near term goal is in sight!
We have received wonderful ideas with regard to membership and ask that they keep coming. Treasurer needed for PTA. The PTA is in need of a Treasurer. The position does not require a CPA, just an enthusiastic person to help the PTA and RCMS community. If interested send an e-mail to rcmspta.pres@gmail.com.

Hurry and Get your gifts for the Holidays! RCMS PTA has launched the Mrs. Fields Cookie, Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake website. Feel free to browse the website opened on October 10. Order forms and brochures will go home with students soon! THIS is our biggest and most important fundraiser which supports Technology and Instructional Projects throughout the school. Get Hungry and get Ready for Mrs. Field's desserts!!! Online ordering is highly encouraged to reduce time and accuracy errors on paper order forms.

October SWAG (Students with Awesome Growth) Recognition
The picture above is proudly displayed outside of the cafeteria for all to see. Each month teachers from different departments recognize up to three students for their hard work, perseverance, and commitment to making a positive impact at Carson. Mr. Stokes had the pleasure of celebrating the October students of the month this past week complete with certificates and SWAG bags.

Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid is coming!
The Impact Aid Program is a federal grant program designed to directly compensate local school districts that have been financially impacted by federal activities. The program's mission is to reimburse local school districts for local revenues lost due to the presence of federally owned and therefore tax-exempt property. Your support in identifying students with federal connections will ensure that FCPS can obtain its fair share of grant funds from this program.
The surveys went home during Panther Time the week of October 17th. Please be sure to complete and sign the survey and have your child return the original (fax or email copies may not be sent) to their Panther Time teacher no later than Friday, November 4th.
