AP Students and Families,
AP opt out forms were distributed to students the first week of October during 4th period. These forms only need to be completed by students who do not want to take any or all of the AP exams for which they are scheduled in May 2023.
If your student wishes to opt out of an exam, the form is due Tuesday, October 25th to Mr. Walker or Ms. Wiley in Student Services. It must be handed to either Mr. Walker or Ms. Wiley and should NOT be given to their teacher or left in a mailbox.
If you need another copy of the opt out form, please see Mr. Walker in Student Services.

DEA National Drug Take Back Day
Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often very tragic. If you have unwanted medication, please consider taking advantage of a free, convenient, confidential, and safe disposal of unused or expired medications during Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, October 29, 2022. The closest drop off locations in our community is Mason District Station 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale, VA 22003. Opportunity for Students to Help Inform FCPS’ Future
You may have heard FCPS is developing a Strategic Plan that will serve as the school division’s roadmap for the future. We encourage every parent/caregiver, student, employee, and community member to participate in this important work.
The first engagement opportunity will be an optional survey, which will be open to students in grades 3-12. Knowing what is important to students will be very helpful to Dr. Reid, as she leads the planning of FCPS’ future. All schools, including ours, will schedule a date and time during the school day to administer the survey between November 2-18. If you would prefer that your child not participate, you may opt your child out of taking the survey. Please visit FCPS’ website for more information.
Everything You Need to Know About Opioids
The FCPS Parent Resource Center and Tiffany Jones, FCPS substance abuse prevention specialist, will present a webinar for parents and caregivers on Thursday, November 10, at 10 a.m. The webinar is intended for adults only and will address:
- How young people are getting drugs.
- Opioid risk, misuse, withdrawal, and overdose symptoms.
- The dangers of fentanyl.
- Naloxone and how it works.
All are welcome. Please help us plan by clicking this link to register to attend
Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid
FCPS will be asking ALL families to fill out a Student-Parent Survey for Federal Impact Aid. Returning this form is important because information from this survey results in an additional $3 million in grants each year from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds are used to support all Fairfax County public schools and centers.
For each school-aged child in your household, please complete, sign, date, and return the survey to your child's school. If sections 1 and 2 of the survey do not apply to you, just check the box in Section 3. All forms must be signed, dated, and returned by November 4. All results are confidential.
